‘Wolf Totem’ Score Preview

wolf-totemMars Films has published the first audio clip from the original score for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s epic drama Wolf Totem. The film’s music is composed by Academy Award winner James Horner (TitanicBraveheartAvatarApollo 13A Beautiful Mind). Check out the 45-second audio clip after the jump. Wolf Totem starring Chinese actors Feng Shaofeng and Dou Xiao is based on Jiang Rong’s autobiographical novel of the same title and tells the story of a student who is sent from Beijing in China to the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia to teach shepherds and learns about the bond that they share with the wolves. Ralph (Man on Wire, The Cove, Chasing Ice), including the original song Until the End performed by Liza Minnelli and Wynton Marsalis. Listen to the full song after the jump. The film is written and directed by Gee Malik Linton and stars Keanu Reeves, Mira Sorvino, Ana de Armas, Christopher McDonald, Big Daddy Kane, Michael Rispoli and Laura Gomez. The movie follows a police detective searching for the truth behind his partner’s death, while a Latina woman is witnessing a miracle. Reeves and Malik Linton are also producing the project with Robin Gurland (Grassroots, casting director of Star Wars: Episode I & II). The releases include an expanded soundtrack for the 1990 sci-fi action horror sequel Predator 2 directed by Stephen Hopkins and starring Danny Glover, Kevin Peter Hall, Gary Busey, Ruben Blades, María Conchita Alonso and Bill Paxton. The 2-CD deluxe edition features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the FutureForrest GumpThe AvengersCast Away), including previously unreleased music. The composer previously composed the score for the first part in the series, which Varese Sarabande released for the first time in 2003. The film’s original music is composed by William Ross (Harry Potter and the Chamber of SecretsThe Tale of Desperaux) who previously scored Russell’s Ladder 49My Dog Skip and Tuck Everlasting and Jerome Leroy. Momentum RLP Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this week. toy-story-that-time-forgotPremiering on Tuesday, December 2, is the Disney/Pixar holiday special Toy Story That Time Forgot directed by Steve Purcell and featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Kristen Schaal, Kevin McKidd, Wallace Shawn, Timothy Dalton, Don Rickles and Joan Cusack. Michael Giacchino (Star TrekLostDawn of the Planet of the Apes) who previously scored last year’s Toy Story of Terror, as well as Pixar’s The IncrediblesRatatouilleUp and Cars 2 has composed the special’s original music. The film written and directed by Mark Burton (screenwriter of Madagascar and Gnomeo & Juliet) & Richard Starzak is based on the television series of the same title featuring the sheep character from the Wallace & Gromit short A Close Shave. The movie follows Shaun and his flock into the big city as they try to rescue their farmer, who was forced by Shaun’s mischief to leave the farm. Julie Lockhart (The Pirates! Band of Misfits) and Paul Kewley are producing the project. Aardman Animations’ Peter Lord, Nick Park & David Sproxton (Chicken RunWallace & Gromit) serve as executive producers. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Imitation Game). Also included is the original song Miracles performed by Coldplay. The soundtrack will be released on December 15, 2014 by Parlophone Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
