Only one movie is opening nationwide this weekend:

pyramidOpening in around 600 theaters is the horror thriller The Pyramid directed by Gregory Levasseur, produced by Alexandre Aja and starring Ashley Hinshaw, James Buckley, Denis O’Hare, Christa Nicola and Amir K. The film’s original music is composed by Nima Fakhrara (The Signal, The Courier). No soundtrack album has been announced. The Pyramid follows a group of U.S. archaeologists who discover a lost pyramid unlike any other in the Egyptian desert. The thriller is being released by 20th Century Fox. wildAlready playing in select theaters since this past Wednesday is the drama Wild directed by Jean-Marc Vallee and starring Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Thomas Sadoski, Gaby Hoffman, Kevin Rankin and Michiel Huisman. The film doesn’t feature an original score. Sony Legacy has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by such artists as Simon & Garfunkel, Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen, Portishead, The Shangri-Las, Billy Swan, Lucina Williams, Wings, Pat Metheny Group & more. The film marks the feature directorial debut of commercials director Graham Henman and stars Ed Westwick, John Hannah, Tom Wilkinson, Vanessa Kirby, Rupert Graves, Steven Mackintosh and Neil Maskell. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by Anthony Bourdain and follows a chef at the hottest restaurant in London’s East End who becomes embroiled in his uncle’s underground mob activity when he witnesses him commit a murder. junkie-xlJunkie XL revealed on Twitter that he has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming thriller Run All Night. The movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (UnknownNon-StopOrphan) and stars Liam Neeson, Joel Kinnaman, Ed Harris, Genesis Rodriguez, Holt McCallany, Boyd Holbrook, Vincent D’Onofrio and Common. The film follows an aging hitman who is forced to take on his brutal former boss to protect his estranged son and his family. Brad Inglesby (Out of the Furnace) has written the script. Roy Lee (The Lego MovieThe Lake House) is producing the Vertigo Entertainment production with Brooklyn Weaver (Extant). Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that Thomas Newman will return to score the 24th film in the James Bond series, Spectre. The composer will reteam with director Sam Mendes who previously helmed 2012’s Skyfall. They also collaborated on the features American BeautyThe Road to PerditionRevolutionary Road and JarheadSpectre stars Daniel Craig in the title role, alongside  Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny and Ralph Fiennes as M. Rory Kinnear, Andrew Scott, David Bautista, Monica Bellucci, Léa Seydoux and Christoph Waltz are co-starring. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marco Beltrami (Scream, The Wolverine, World War Z, Live Free or Die Hard), Marcus Trumpp and Brandon Roberts. The soundtrack will be released on January 6, 2015 by Varese Sarabande and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death is directed by Tom Harper and stars Jeremy Irvine, Helen McCrory, Phoebe Cox and Oaklee Pendergast. The movie takes place in the same house as the original 40 years later, when a group of children who are evacuated from London during World War II come to stay and awaken the house’s darkest inhabitants. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger) who previously scored the first two installments in the series. The soundtrack will be released physically on January 6, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Strouse and stars Jemaine Clement, Regina Hall, Stephanie Allynne and Jessica Williams. The movie follows a newly single, under-employed graphic novelist balancing parenting his young twin daughters and a classroom full students while exploring a new love and letting go of the woman who left him. Michael B. Clark (Safety Not Guaranteed) and Alex Turtletaub are producing the project for Beachside. imageRichard Sherman will be honored with the “Shining Star” award at Education Through Music-Los Angeles’ (ETM-LA) 9th Annual Benefit Gala this Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The award is given out annually for those whose contributions through music has changed lives. The evening will feature students from Education Through Music-LA and Burbank’s Roosevelt Elementary School performing an arrangement of Sherman’s music from Mary Poppins, as well as a sing-a-long with the songwriter on the piano. Also appearing at the event as special presenters and performers featured are actor Josh Gad (Frozen, The Wedding Ringer), Grammy Award-winning R&B/pop group All-4-One, Evelyn Halus, and actress Karen Dotrice (Mary Poppins). pitch-perfect-2Mark Mothersbaugh has signed on to score the upcoming musical comedy sequel Pitch Perfect 2. The film is directed by actress Elizabeth Banks who makes her feature directorial debut and stars Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson, Alexis Knapp, Adam DeVine and Hailee Steinfeld. The movie follows the Barden Bellas as they take to the world championships of a capella, where a U.S. team has never won before. Kay Cannon (New Cannon) who scripted the original has also written the screenplay for the sequel. Banks also appears in the movie and is producing the project with Paul Brooks (Life As We Know It, New in Town) for Gold Circle Films and Max Handelman (Surrogates) for Brownstone Productions.
