Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1993 adventure drama A Far Off Place directed by Mikael Salomon and starring Reese Witherspoon, Jack Thompson and Maximilian Schell. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner James Horner (Titanic, Braveheart, Avatar, A Beautiful Mind), including more than half an hour of previously unreleased music. Also included are two cues that were not used in the final version of the film. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary The Great Invisible. The album features the film’s original music composed by David Wingo (Take Shelter, Mud, The Sitter, Joe). The soundtrack will be released physically on January 13, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article soon. The Great Invisible is directed by Margaret Brown and tells the story of the modern South – the fishermen, the oilmen, and the survivors – through the lens of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Max Richter to Score ‘Into the Forest’

Max Richter has signed on to score the upcoming futuristic drama Into the Forest. The film is directed by Patricia Rozema (Mansfield Park, When Night Is Falling) and stars Ellen Page, Evan Rachel Wood, Callum Keith Rennie and Max Minghella. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Jean Hegland is set in the not-too-distant future and follows two sisters who must rely on one another as society crumbles around them and their forest home. Rozema has written the screenplay. Page is also producing the project with Niv Fichman (Enemy, The Red Violin, Blindness) and Aaron L. Gilbert (A Single Shot, Welcome to Me). ‘Grantchester’ Soundtrack Announced

Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the British series Grantchester. The album features the show’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner John Lunn (Downton Abbey, The White Queen). Also included are songs by Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Gloria Dee. Stephen Warbeck is composing the music for PBS’ and Channel 4’s upcoming mini-series Indian Summers. The epic drama is created and written by Paul Rutman (Vera) and stars Julie Walters, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Jemima West, Nikesh Patel, Roshan Seth, Lillete Dubey, Alexander Cobb, Craig Parkinson, Fiona Glascott, Amber Rose Revah, Aysha Kala, Olivia Grant and Edward Hogg. The 10-parter directed by Anand Tucker (Hilary and Jackie, Shopgirl, Leap Year) tells the story of the decline of the British Empire and the birth of modern India, from both sides of the experience. LA, NY and Boston Film Critics Announce Winners of Best Music in Film 2014

A couple of major local critics associations have been announced their winners for this year’s movies. Jonny Greenwood’s music for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice was honored by both the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Boston Society of Film Critics, while Mica Levi’s music for Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin was singled out by the LA Film Critics and the Boston Online Film Critics Association.
