Trevor Morris has been tapped to score the National Geographic Channel television event Killing Jesus. The movie is directed by Christopher Menaul (Summer in February, The Forsyte Saga) and stars Kelsey Grammer, Stephen Moyer, Emmanuelle Chriqui, John Rhys Davies, Rufus Sewell, Eoin Macken, Aneurin Barnard, Vernon Dobtcheff, Tamsin Egerton and John Lynch. The three-hour event is based on the best-selling book by Bill O’Reilly and chronicles the life of Jesus of Nazareth through the retelling of the political, social and historical conflicts during the Roman Empire that ultimately led to his death. Walon Green (The Wild Bunch, Eraser) has written the script. O’Reilly is also executive producing the project with Ridley Scott & David Zucker (The Good Wife, Numb3rs) for Scott Free Productions, Mary Lisio (Killing Kennedy), Teri Weinberg (The Tudors), Charlie Parsons (Survivor) and Heather Moran. Nathan Larson has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama A Walk in the Woods. The film is directed by Ken Kwapis and stars Robert Redford, Nick Nolte, Emma Thompson, Mary Steenburgen, Nick Offerman and Kristen Schaal. The movie follows an aging travel writer who sets out to hike the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail with a long-estranged high school buddy and learns that some roads are better left untraveled. Rick Kerb and Bill Holderman have written the screenplay. Manuel Riveiro is reteaming with director Eli Roth on the upcoming horror thriller Knock Knock. The movie follows two beautiful young girls who walk into a married man’s life and turn a wild fantasy into his worst nightmare. Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever, Hemlock Grove) has also co-written the screenplay with Nicolas Lopez and Guillermo Amoedo. ‘Taken 3’ Soundtrack Details

EuropaCorp will release a soundtrack album for the action thriller sequel Taken 3. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nathaniel Mechaly (Colombiana, Taxi Brooklyn) who previously scored the first two installments in the series. Also included are the songs from the movie by artists including Glass Animals, Olafur Arnalds & Arnor Dan and The XX. Taken 3 is directed by Olivier Megaton, co-written and produced by Luc Besson and stars Liam Neeson who returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Already playing in theaters since Wednesday is the fantasy adventure The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies directed by Peter Jackson and starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, Hugo Weaving and Orlando Bloom. The film’s original music is composed by Howard Shore (The Silence of the Lambs, Hugo) who also scored the previous Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings movies. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music in two editions. For the full album details, check out our soundtrack announcement. Also opening wide is the sequel Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, Dan Stevens, Rebel Wilson and Ben Kingsley. The film’s original music is composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Croods, The Avengers). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week. A CD version is set to be released on January 6. ‘Wild Tales’ Soundtrack Details

Quartet Records has announced a soundtrack album for the Argentinian comedy thriller Wild Tales (Relatos Salvajes). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries). Also included are songs by Giorgio Moroder, Lucien Belmond, Bobby Womack and David Guetta. The soundtrack will be released in the U.S. on February 17, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded below. Wild Tales is written and directed by Damian Szifro and stars Ricardo Darin, Oscar Martinez, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Erica Rivas, Rita Cortese, Julieta Zylberberg and Dario Grandinetti. The movie produced by Pedro Almodovar is comprised of six separate stories and is one of the frontrunners to be nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at this season’s Academy Awards. Martin Phipps and Hans Zimmer have recently scored the upcoming drama Woman in Gold. The film is directed by Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) and stars Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Bruhl, Katie Holmes, Tatiana Maslany, Max Irons, Charles Dance, Elizabeth McGovern and Jonathan Pryce. The movie follows an elderly Jewish woman who fled Vienna during World War II and, sixty years later, starts her journey to retrieve family possessions seized by the Nazis, among them Klimt’s painting “The Lady in Gold.” Alexi Kaye Campbell has written the screenplay. David M. Thompson (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, What We Did On Our Holiday) is producing the BBC Films and Origin Pictures production with Kris Thykier (Kick-Ass, The Debt).
