BT announced on Twitter that he has composed music for the upcoming mystery thriller Dark Places. The movie is written and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah’s Key) and stars Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Corey Stoll, Tye Sheridan Drea DeMatteo, Andrea Roth and Sterling Jerins. The film is based on a novel by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) and follows a woman who survived the massacre of her family as a young girl and testified against her brother and is confronted by a secret society obsessed with solving notorious crimes 25 years later. Cathy Schulman (Crash, The Illusionist), Matthew Rhodes (Southland Tales, Passengers), Matt Jackson (End of Watch, Snitch), Stephane Marsil (Adventures of Arsene Lupin), Beth Kono & AJ Dix (The Butterfly Effect, Sleepwalking) are producing the project. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the found footage adventure Project Almanac directed by Dean Israelite, produced by Michael Bay and starring Jonny Weston, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Sam Lerner, Allen Evangelista, Allen Evangelista, Ginny Gardner and Ginny Gardner. The movie doesn’t feature an original score, but several songs by artists including Imagine Dragons who also appear in the film. No soundtrack album has been announced. Project Almanac follows a brilliant high school student and his friends who uncover blueprints for a mysterious device with limitless potential, inadvertently putting lives in danger. Also opening wide is the drama Black or White written and directed by Mike Binder and starring Kevin Costner, Octavia Spencer, Jillian Estell, Bill Burr, Jennifer Ehle, André Holland, Gillian Jacobs and Anthony Mackie. The film’s original music is composed by Terence Blanchard (Malcolm X, Inside Man, The 25th Hour, Red Tails). ‘Yellowbird’ Soundtrack Details

22D Music will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Yellowbird (Gus: Petit oiseau, grand voyage). The album features the film’s original score written by Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Quills, Billy Elliott, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin). Also included are songs by 20syl, Gogol Bordello and Mathilda Homer. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 22, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Yellowbird is directed by Christian De Vita and features the voices of Seth Green, Dakota Fanning, Danny Glover, Jim Rash, Elliott Gould and Christine Baranski. The movie follows an orphan young bird who has never left the nest and is given the responsibility by the elder of the flock to lead a whole family of birds on migration to Africa. Kickstarter Launch for ‘SCORE: A Film Music Documentary’ Announced

Epicleff Media has announced the Kickstarter launch to raise funds to finish SCORE: A Film Music Documentary, a film that will feature A-list composers such as Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland), Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Departed), John Debney (Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2), Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z), Christophe Beck (Frozen, The Hangover) Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300), as well as insight from others in Hollywood including film critic Leonard Maltin and director/producer/actor Garry Marshall. The Kickstarter campaign will be launched on February 15, 2015 and funds raised will go toward final production costs for the documentary that will guide viewers through the creative processes of some of the world’s greatest composers/musicians. ‘Take Down’ to Feature Music by Hybrid

The British electronic music group Hybrid is currently scoring the upcoming thriller Take Down. The film is directed by Jim Gillespie (I Know What You Did Last Summer, Eye See You) and stars Ed Westwick, Jeremy Sumpter, Phoebe Tonkin and Dominic Sherwood. The movie focuses on the wayward sons and daughters of international billionaires, who have been sent by their frustrated parents to a boot camp on a remote island, when they are taken hostage and held for a billion dollar ransom by a group of sophisticated kidnappers. Alexander Ignon (Ransom) has written the screenplay. Sarah Ryan Black (Restoration, 100 Feet) and Ed Elbert (Anna and the King, Martian Child) are producing the Pinewood Pictures production. ‘GirlHouse’ Soundtrack Announced

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the horror thriller GirlHouse. The album features the film’s original score composed by tomandandy (The Mothman Prophecies, The Strangers, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Arlington Road, The Rules of Attraction). Also included is an original track by Slaine who stars in the film, as well as songs by Todd Michael Schultz, Com Truise and Jesse Rhodes. Mark Kilian and Paul Hepker are reteaming with director Gavin Hood (Ender’s Game, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) on the ucpoming thriller Eye in the Sky. The film stars Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul, Alan Rickman, Barkhad Abdi, Iain Glen, Phoebe Fox and Carl Beukes. The movie follows a London-based military intelligence officer who is remotely commanding a top secret drone operation that aims to capture a group of terrorists in Nairobi. Guy Hibbard (Five Minutes of Heaven) has written the screenplay. Actor Colin Firth is producing the project with Ged Doherty and David Lancaster (Nightcrawler, Whiplash). Tim McGraw to Perform for Glen Campbell at the Oscars

Academy Awards show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today that Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and actor Tim McGraw will perform the Oscar-nominated song I’m Not Gonna Miss You for Glen Campbell at the 87th Oscars ceremony on February 22. The song written by Campbell and Julian Raymond for the documentary feature Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me is one of the five nominated songs in the Best Original Song category, alongside Everything Is Awesome from The Lego Movie, Glory from Selma, Grateful from Beyond the Lights and Lost Stars from Begin Again. The 87th Oscars, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood.
‘Sons of Liberty’ Soundtrack Details

A&E Television Networks will release a soundtrack album for the History event mini-series Sons of Liberty. The album features the show’s title theme composed by Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King) and Lorne Balfe (Penguins of Madagascar, Megamind), as well as the score composed by Balfe. The soundtrack is now available to stream on Spotify and a digital release is expected soon. Sons of Liberty is directed by Kari Skogland and stars Ben Barnes, Rafe Spall, Michael Raymond-James, Henry Thomas, Ryan Eggold, Dean Norris, Marton Csokas, Emily Berrington and Jason O’Mara. The details of La-La Land Records’ and Madison Gate Records’ soundtrack release featuring the scores for Seth Rogen’s & Evan Goldberg’s comedies The Interview and This Is the End have been revealed. The albums feature the films’ original music composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: First Class, Big Hero 6, Wreck-It-Ralph). The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes. A limited soundtrack edition CD will be released next month and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Interview starring James Franco, Seth Rogen, Lizzy Caplan and Randall Park follows a TV talk show host and producer who land an interview with Korean dictator Kim Jong-un as an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists.
