Back Lot Music will release a score album for the action sequel Furious 7. The album features the film’s original music composed by Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Now You See Me, Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles) who previously scored the third, fourth and fifth installment of the series The soundtrack will be released on March 31, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full album details. As previously reported, Republic Records will release a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the film. Furious 7 is directed by James Wan and stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Lucas Black, Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell. Sony Classical has published audio clips from the soundtrack album for the period drama Suite Francaise. John Ottman to Return for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

John Ottman has officially signed on to score X-Men: Apocalypse. The film is directed by Bryan Singer and star Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassebender, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters and Rose Byrne who return in their roles from X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past. They are joined by new cast members Sophie Turner who will play Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, as well as Oscar Isaacs and Ben Hardy. Simon Kinberg who scripted the previous film in the franchise is writing the screenplay for the sequel, which takes place in the 1980s. Singer and Kinberg are also producing the project with Lauren Shuler Donner and Hutch Parker. Ottman will also once again serve as the film’s editor. Read the rest of this entry »

Alexandre Desplat is currently scoring the upcoming French drama Don’t Tell Me the Boy Was Mad (Une histoire de fou). The film is directed by Robert Guédiguian (The Snows of Kilimanjaro, Marius and Jeannette) and stars Simon Abkarian, Ariane Ascaride, Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet, Serge Avédikian and Syrus Shahidi. The movie follows a young man from Marseilles of Armenian origin who blows up the car of the Turkish Ambassador in Paris and later decides to meet a victim who was standing nearby and was hurt in the incident to make him his spokesman. A soundtrack album has been released for the indie comedy Wild Canaries. The album feature the film’s original music composed by Michael Montes (Whipped, Ping Pong Summer). Mark Isham is reteaming with director Gavin O’Connor to score the upcoming action thriller The Accountant. The film stars Ben Affleck, Anna Kenrick, J.K Simmons, Jon Bernthal, John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor. The movie centers on a mild-mannered accountant and math genius who moonlights as a lethal assassin. Bill Dubuque (The Judge) has written the Black List-honored screenplay. Electric City Entertainment’s Lynette Howell (The Place Beyond the Pines, Blue Valentine, Big Eyes) and Mark Williams (Flawless, Arena) are producing the project. Alan Silvestri to Be Honored at World Soundtrack Awards 2015

Alan Silvestri has been chosen as this year’s guest of honor at this year’s World Soundtrack Awards. The composer’s music will be performed at the 15th anniversary edition of the event, conducted by Dirk Brossé and accompanied by film fragments on the big screen, during the 42nd Ghent Film Festival on October 24, 2015. Silvestri’s credits include numerous collaborations with director Robert Zemeckis including the Back to the Future trilogy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Romancing the Stone, Cast Away, The Polar Express, Contact, Flight and Forrest Gump, which earned him an Academy Award nomination. He also scored such films as Marvel’s The Avengers & Captain America: The First Avenger, the animated feature The Croods, the Night at the Museum trilogy, James Cameron’s The Abyss and The Mummy Returns. Westbury Road Entertainment has released the original song Towards the Sun from DreamWorks Animation’s feature Home. Jackson. As previously reported, Brian Tyler is the principal composer on the project.
