Nathan Larson is set to compose the score for the upcoming HBO series Vinyl. The show is created by Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Sopranos) and stars Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Juno Temple, Ato Essandoh, P. J. Byrne, J. C. MacKenzie, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen and Paul Ben-Victor. The drama is set in 1970s New York and tells the story of Richie Finestra, a record executive trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound. Martin Scorsese (Good Fellas, Taxi Driver, The Departed) has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the project with Winter, Mick Jagger, George Mastras (Breaking Bad), Rick Yorn (We Bought a Zoo), Victoria Pearman (Get on Up) and Emma Tillinger Koskoff (The Wolf of Wall Street). Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for Catherine Hardwicke’s drama Miss You Already. The album features two original songs written by Oscar nominee Diane Warren, The Crazy Ones performed by Paloma Faith and What We Leave Behind performed by Labrinth. Also included are songs by artists including R.E.M., Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Moby with Damien Jurado,Tyson Ritter, Broken Bell & more, as well as a track from the movie’s original score composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Kingdom of Heaven, The Martian). Sam Smith to Perform ‘Spectre’ Title Song ‘Writing’s On the Wall’

Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that Sam Smith has recorded Writing’s On The Wall, the theme song to the 24th James Bond film Spectre. The singer/songwriter has co-written the song with Jimmy Napes. The track will be released to download and stream on September 25, 2015 by Capitol Records. It is the first James Bond theme song recorded by a British male solo artist since 1965. ‘Continuum’ Season 2 & 3 Soundtrack Released

RPI Music Publishing has released a new soundtrack album for the sci-fi series Continuum. The album features selections from the original music from the second and third season of the show composed by Jeff Danna (The Boondock Saints, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, Lakeview Terrace). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. A soundtrack featuring music from the first season has previously been released on Lakeshore Records in 2013. Continuum is created by Simon Barry and stars Rachel Nichols, Victor Webster and Erik Knudsen. The show about a detective from the year 2077 who finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver and searching for ruthless criminals from the future will return for a fourth and final season on September 11 on Syfy. Pedro Bromfman has been tapped to score the upcoming action comedy series Rio Heat. The show is created by Ken Gord & Dean Hamilton Bornstein and stars Harvey Keitel, Thaila Ayala and Victor Webster. The series follows a man and a woman who are hired by a mysterious figure and ex-CIA operator who now owns the largest private investigation company in the world to solve crimes. Stephen Campanelli (Momentum) has directed the first episodes, which are set to be released as a feature film in Brazil. Premiering tonight on PBS is the mini-series Arthur & George directed by Stuart Orme, executive produced by Rebecca Eaton, written by Ed Whitmore and starring Martin Clunes, Arsher Ali, Art Malik, Emma Fielding, Charles Edwards and Hattie Morahan. The 3-parter’s original music is composed by Rob Lane (The Damned United, Merlin, John Adams). Arthur & George is based on the novel by Julian Barnes and follows world-famous author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as he works on case revolving around a half-Indian son of a vicar who is framed for a crime he may or may not have committed. Two new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the action reboot The Transporter Refueled directed by Camille Delamarre and starring Ed Skrein, Ray Stevenson, Loan Shabanon, Gabriella Wright, Radivoje Bukvić, Anatole Taubman, Wenxia Yu and Tatiana Pajković. The film’s original music is composed by Alexandre Azaria (Lockout, Love and Other Disasters) who previously scored the second and third part in the original trilogy. EuropaCorp has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by The Animals, Selah Sue, Mani Hoffman, The Leons & more.
