Director Colin Trevorrow announced on Twitter that Michael Giacchino will be composing the music for the upcoming drama The Book of Henry. The film stars Naomi Watts, Jacob Tremblay, Jaeden Lieberher, Dean Norris, Lee Pace, Sarah Silverman, Maddie Ziegler and Bobby Moynihan. The movie follows a single mother who raises a genius boy. Gregg Hurwitz has written the screenplay. Sidney Kimmel (The Place Beyond the Pines, Lars and the Real Girls, The Age of Adaline) and Carla Hacken are producing the project with Jenette Kahn & Adam Richman (The Flock). The movie follows a single mother who moves her three children into the haunted house not knowing of the house’s bloody history. Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for Terrence Malick’s drama Knight of Cups. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hanan Townshend who previously collaborated with the director on the features To the Wonder, The Tree of Life and The Better Angels. ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ to Feature Original Song by Pink

A new TV spot for Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass that premiered during the Grammy Awards telecast revealed that Pink will record an original song for the sequel. The pop singer also contributed a cover version of the Jefferson Airplane classic White Rabbit, which can be previewed in the video embedded after the jump. The title of the original song will be revealed at a later date. Antonio Sanchez has won the Grammy Award for his music for Alejandro G. Inarritu’s Birdman in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category. The other nominated composers in the category included Hans Zimmer (Interstellar), Johann Johannsson (The Theory of Everything), Justin Hurwitz (Whiplash) and Alexandre Desplat (The Imitation Game). The jazz drummer/composer accepted his award in person. In the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media, Lonnie Lynn, Che Smith & John Stephen won the award for the song Glory from Ava DuVernay’s feature Selma. Jeff Beal to Conduct ‘Blackfish’ Score Live-to-Picture Performance

Hollywood Chamber Orchestra music directors Noah Gladstone and Mark Robertson today announced that Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Carnivale, Appaloosa, Pollock) will conduct the world premiere of his score to the 2013 documentary Blackfish, live-to-picture, on Friday, July 1, 2016, at the Montalbán Theater in Hollywood. The movie, which centers on the controversial captivity of killer whales, premiered in competition at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in January 2013 and was released in theaters later that year by Magnolia Pictures. Will Arnett has announced on Twitter that former Pavement lead singer and guitarist Stephen Malkmus is scoring the upcoming Netflix series Flaked. The show is created by Mark Chappell (The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret) and Arnett who also stars in the comedy with David Sullivan, Ruth Kearney and George Basil. The series follows a celebrated long-time resident of the insular world of Venice, California who falls for the object of his best friend’s fascination. Arnett and Chappell are also executive producing the project with Ben Silverman (The Office, Jane the Virgin), Peter Principato (Married, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp) and Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development).
