Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

money-monsterOpening in most theaters is the dramatic thriller Money Monster directed by Jodie Foster and starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Jack O’Connell, Dominic West, Giancarlo Esposito and Caitriona Balfe. The film’s original score is composed by Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High CastleFree Birds) and produced by Henry Jackman. Sony Classical and Madison Gate Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Click here for the full album details. the-darknessAlso opening wide is the horror thriller The Darkness directed by Greg McLean and starring Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry, Matt Walsh and Jennifer Morrison. Johnny Klimek (One Hour PhotoSense8Cloud AtlasThe International) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The Darkness (previously entitled 6 Miranda Drive) follows two families who return from a summer camping trip in the Grand Canyon with a supernatural presence in tow. jun-miyakeJun Miyake has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama Oppenheimer Strategies. The film is written and directed by Joseph Cedar (FootnoteBeaufort) and stars Richard Gere, Michael Sheen, Steve Buscemi, Josh Charles, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Dan Stevens, Isaach De Bankole and Lior Ashkenazi. The movie follows a man whose  life dramatically changes after the young politician he befriended during a dark period in his life becomes an influential world leader. Gideon Tadmor is producing the project with Miranda Bailey (The Diary of a Teenage Girl), David Mandil, Lawrence Inglee & Eyal Rimmon (Swiss Army Men) and Oren Moverman (The MessengerRampart). neighbors-2Back Lot Music has released two original songs from the comedy sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, including the track Black Skinhead by Jacques Slade, THURZ & El Prez, as well as Party in My Pants by Kill the Giant. Both songs are now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising is directed by Nicholas Stoller and stars Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Chloë Grace Moretz, Dave Franco, Ike Barinholtz, Carla Gallo, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Kiersey Clemons and Beanie Feldstein. The movie follows Mac and Kelly who have a second baby on the way and learn that the new occupants next door are a sorority even more out of control than the frat boys from the original movie. x-men-apocalypseThe full details of the soundtrack album for Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Ottman (The Usual SuspectsSuperman ReturnsThe Fantastic Four) who previously scored Singer’s X2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past and also serves as the editor and co-producer on the movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 20, 2016 and physically next month. btBT is set to compose the score for the upcoming drama The Possibility of Fireflies. The film is directed by Deborah Chow (The High Cost of LivingFlowers in the Atticus) and stars Courtney Love & Joey King. The movie is based on Dominique Paul’s YA novel of the same title and follows a teen who dreams of becoming a writer and finds herself caught in the alluring undertow of a reckless rock ‘n’ roll freedom when she falls in love with an aspiring singer. Paul is also writing the screenplay. Amy Green is producing the project with Canadian musicians Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida who are also collaborating with BT on the film’s soundtrack.  Read the rest of this entry »

ballerinaThe Weinstein Company has announced that Klaus Badelt is composing the score for the upcoming animated feature Ballerina. Singer/songwriter Chris Braide is writing and producing original songs for the film, which is directed by Eric Summer & Eric Warin and features the voices of Elle Fanning, Maddie Ziegler and Carly Rae Jepsen. The movie is set in 1879 Paris and follows an orphan girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina and moves to Paris, where she passes for someone else and accedes to the position of pupil at the Grand Opera house. Carole Noble and Laurent Zeitoun (The Intouchables) have written the screenplay. The album features the film’s original music composed by Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me series, Minions, The Smurfs, Beverly Hills Chihuahua).
