homePremiering on Friday, July 29, is DreamWorks Animation’s new Netflix series Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh developed by Ryan Crego & Thurop Van Orman and featuring the voices of Rachel Crow, Mark Whitten, Ana Ortiz, Ron Funches and Matt Jones. The show’s original music is composed by Alex Geringas. The animated comedy is based on last year’s feature Home (scored by Lorne Balfe) and centers on the friendship between the fearless Tip and overenthusiastic Oh as they navigate the crazily combined human and alien culture they live in. marvel-studiosIt was announced at Comic-Con today that Michael Giacchino composed a fanfare for the new logo of Marvel Studios, which will be playing in front of all future Marvel feature releases. The music was recorded a couple of weeks ago at Abbey Road Studios in London. Check out the fanfare after the jump. Giacchino is currently scoring his first movie for Marvel, Doctor Strange directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams., which will be released on November 4, 2016. king-arthurDaniel Pemberton is reteaming with director Guy Ritchie on the upcoming fantasy adventure King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law and Eric Bana. The movie is a new take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. Ritchie has also written the screenplay with Lionel Wigram (Sherlock Holmes) and Joby Harold (Awake). They are also producing the project with Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful MindConstantineHancock), Tory Tunnell (Underground) and Steve Clark-Hall (The Winter Guest). Read the rest of this entry »

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

star-trek-beyondExpected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi adventure sequel Star Trek Beyond directed by Justin Lin and starring Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Giacchino (UpJurassic WorldThe Incredibles, Inside Out, Lost) who previously scored J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Click here for the full album details. lights-outAlso opening wide is the horror thriller Lights Out directed by David F. Sandberg and starring Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman, Alexander DiPersia, with Billy Burke and Maria Bello. Benjamin Wallfisch (The Escapist, Summer in FebruaryDesert Dancer) has composed the film’s original music. siaIt was announced at Comic-Con today that Sia will write two original songs for the upcoming animated feature My Little Pony: The Movie. She has also joined the voices cast, which also includes Uzo Aduba, Emily Blunt, Kristen Chenoweth, Taye Diggs, Michael Pena, Liev Schrieber, Tara Strong, Cathy Weseluck, Andrea Libman, Tabitha St. Germain and Ashleigh Ball. Jayson Thiessen is directing the film, which is scripted by Rita Hsaio (Toy Story 2Mulan) and Meghan McCarthy. Brian Goldner (G.I. riverdaleBlake Neely is set to compose the music for the upcoming CW drama Riverdale. The show is based on the characters by Archie Comics and stars Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, Luke Perry, KJ Apa, Marisol Nichols, Mädchen Amick, Ashleigh Murray, Madelaine Petsch and Camila Mendes. The series is set in present day and said to be a new take of Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life – the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow) is executive producing the Warner Bros. bad-momsSony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the comedy Bad Moms. The album features the songs from the film by artists including Janelle Monáe, Demi Lovato, Foreigner, Icona Pop feat. Charli XCX, WALK THE MOON, DNCE, Sophie Beem, Memoir and Garrett Kato. Also included are three suites of the movie’s original score composed by Christopher Lennertz (Horrible BossesRide AlongIdentity ThiefAgent Carter) who collaborated with singer-songwriter KT Tunstall to help bring a contemporary alt rock sound to the music. The soundtrack will be released digitally next week. A physical version is set to be released in August and is now available for pre-order on AmazonBad Moms is written and directed by  Jon Lucas & Scott Moore (The Hangover) and stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Jay Hernandez, Clark Duke, Annie Mumolo, Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Applegate. paris-can-waitLaura Karpman has recently composed the music for the upcoming romantic comedy Paris Can Wait. The film is written and directed by Eleanor Coppola and stars Diane Lane, Arnaud Viar and Alec Baldwin. The movie follows a Hollywood producer’s wife who reluctantly takes a trip through France which reawakens her senses and lust for life. Fred Roos (St. Vincent, The Outsiders, Rumble Fish, The Black Stallion) is producing the American Zoetrope, Lifetime Films and A+E Studios production with Coppola and Michael Zakin (Life After Beth). wickedStephen Schwartz revealed today at the Comic-Con panel CW3PR’s 8th Annual Behind-the-Music: Crime, Death and Resurrection that the upcoming film adaptation of the stage musical Wicked will feature new original songs. Currently, there are plans for four new songs to be in the movie in addition to tunes from the stage version. Stephen Daldry (The HoursThe ReaderBilly ElliottExtremely Loud and Incredibly Close) will direct the film and Winnie Holzman is writing the screenplay. No casting announcements have been made yet. max-and-meSony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Max & Me. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark McKenzie (The Greatest Miracle, Blizzard, Frank and Jesse, Warlock: The Armageddon) who recorded his orchestral score at Abbey Road Studios in London. Violinist Joshua Bell is featured as a soloist on the score. The soundtrack is set to be released overseas on October 7, 2016. No word yet on a domestic release date.
