Randy Newman has recently composed the original music for Noah Baumbach’s comedy The Meyerowitz Stories. The film is written and directed by Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale, Greenberg) and stars Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman, Ben Stiller, Grace Van Patten, Elizabeth Marvel and Emma Thompson. The movie is based on Brian Selznick’s novel of the same title and revolves around two adult siblings contending with the influence of their aging father. Baumbach is also producing the project with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network), Lila Yacoub (While We’re Young, Frances Ha) and Eli Bush (Top Five). WaterTower Music & La-La Land Records to Release ‘Riverdale’ Score Album

WaterTower Music and La-La Land Records will release a score album for the CW drama Riverdale starring K. J. Apa, Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Blake Neely (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, The Pacific, Everwood, Life As We Know It). Alexandre Desplat to Score Thomas Vinterberg’s ‘Kursk’

EuropaCorp announced today that Alexandre Desplat is set to score the upcoming thriller Kursk. The film is directed by Thomas Vinterberg (The Hunt, Far from the Madding Crowd) and stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Colin Firth, Léa Seydoux, Peter Simonischek, Max Von Sydow and Michael Nyqvist. The movie is inspired by the true story of the K-141 KURSK, a Russian flagship nuclear-powered submarine that sank to the bottom of the Barents Sea in August 2000. Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot, Thor: The Dark World) wrote the screenplay. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Newtown. The album features the film’s original music composed by Fil Eisler (Empire, Revenge, How to Be Single, CHiPs) who assembled a team of composers to contribute music to the project, including Blake Neely (The Flash, Arrow), Christopher Lennertz (Sausage Party, Horrible Bosses), Deborah Lurie (Dear John, 9), George S. This week, George Fenton is recording his score for the upcoming drama Woman Walks Ahead. Jonas Struck and Vladislav Delay are scoring the upcoming sports drama Borg/McEnroe. The film is directed by Janus Metz (Armadillo) and centers on the rivalry between U.S. tennis champ Jon McEnroe and Sweden’s Bjorn Borg, which came to a head at Wimbledon 1980. The movie stars Sverrir Gudnason as Borg, Shia LaBeouf as McEnroe, Stellan Skarsgardas as Borg’s trainer, Lennart Bergelin. Tuva Novotny, Robert Emms and Ian Blackman are co-starring. The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell. The film’s original score is composed by Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen). Hollywood Records has released two soundtrack albums, including the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 featuring the songs from the movie, as well as score album featuring Bates’ music. Opening in limited release is the comedy drama 3 Generations co-written and directed by Gaby Dellal and starring Elle Fanning, Naomi Watts, Susan Sarandon, Sam Trammell, Linda Emond and Tate Donovan. West Dylan Thordson (Split, Foxcatcher) has composed the film’s original score. Michael Brook composed the original version of the film (entitled About Ray), which premiered at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival.
