Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the gothic fantasy movie The House with a Clock in Its Walls directed by Eli Roth and starring Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Owen Vaccaro, Kyle MacLachlan, Collen Camp, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Vanessa Anne Williams and Sunny Suljic. The film’s original music is composed by Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Americans, Hostel, Cabin Fever). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the drama Life Itself written and directed by Dan Fogelman and starring Oscar Isaac, Olivia Wilde, Mandy Patinkin, Olivia Cooke, Laia Costa, Annette Bening and Antonio Banderas. Federico Jusid (The Secret in Their Eyes, Kidnap, Misconduct, The Hunter’s Prayer) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. Soundtrack Album for Netflix’s ‘Maniac’ Released

Paramount Music has released a soundtrack album for the Netflix original limited series Maniac. The album features selections of the original music from the show composed by Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, The Good Doctor, Atypical, Easy). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Maniac is directed by Cary Fukunaga and stars Emma Stone, Jonah Hill, Sonoya Mizuno, Justin Theroux, Julia Garner and Sally Field. The comedy developed by Patrick Somervile based on the Norwegian television series of the same title follows two strangers who find themselves caught up in a mind-bending pharmaceutical trial gone awry. Songs from ‘Night School’ Soundtrack by Frankie J & Humby and Trinidad James to Be Released

Trinidad James (feat. The Hipster Orchestra) has contributed the end credits song Graduated to the soundtrack for the new comedy Night School. Also featured on the film’s soundtrack is the new song El Sueño performed by Frankie J & Humby (feat. Romany). Both tracks will be released on September 28, 2018 by Back Lot Music and are now available for pre-order on Amazon. Night School is directed by Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip) and stars Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, Rob Riggle, Taran Killam and Romany Malco. ‘Halloween’ Soundtrack Details

The track list of the soundtrack album for David Gordon Green’s Halloween sequel has been revealed this week. The album features the film’s original score composed John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. As previously announced, the soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on October 19 by Sacred Bones Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon (digital version) and here (CD and vinyl version). A first track, The Shape Returns, is already available to download (listen to the full track after the jump). ‘Assassination Nation’ Soundtrack Released

Lakeshore Records has released the official soundtrack album for the thriller Assassination Nation. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ian Hultquist (A-X-L, Animals, My Blind Brother, The Gospel According to André). Also included is a track by Isabella ‘Machine’ Summers, Abra’s B.R.A.T. and Jackson State University Marching Band’s/Sonic Boom of the Youth’s performance of Miley Cyrus’ We Can’t Stop as featured during the movie’s end titles sequence. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 21 and is now available to download on Amazon. Netflix’s ‘Hilda’ to Feature Theme Song by Grimes & Score by Dan Mangan & Ryan Carlson

Grimes has written the theme song for the new Netflix animated series Hilda. The track, which also features vocals by the singer/songwriter, opens every episode of the show’s first season. Dan Mangan (Hector and the Search for Happiness) has composed the underscore for several episodes, as well as the end titles theme of the show. The other episodes are scored by Ryan Carlson for Vapor RMW. Hilda is created by Luke Pearson based on his comic book series and features the voices of Bella Ramsey as the title character, as well as Ameerah Falzon-Ojo, Oliver Nelson, Daisy Haggard and Rasmus Hardiker. Soundtrack Album for HBO’s ‘Insecure’ Season 3 to Be Released

RCA Records will release a new soundtrack album for the HBO original series Insecure. The album features the songs from the show’s third season by artists including Miguel, Childish Major, Radiant Children, Victoria Monet, Opal, Peyton, LION BABE, Cautious Clay, Siaira Shawn, Derrius Logan & more. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 21 and will be available to download on Amazon. The label has previously released two soundtrack albums for the series’ first two seasons, as well as several digital singles. ‘Quincy: A Life Beyond Measure’ Soundtrack Details

‘An Actor Prepares’ Soundtrack Album Announced

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the comedy An Actor Prepares. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award nominee Tony Morales (Hatfields & McCoys, Scorpion, Elena of Avalor, Bloodline). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 5, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. An Actor Prepares is co-written and directed by Steve Clark and starring Jeremy Irons, Jack Huston, Ben Schwartz, Mamie Gummer, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Will Patton, Frankie Faison and Matthew Modine. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross to Score HBO’s ‘Watchmen’ Series

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross have been hired to score HBO’s upcoming television adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel Watchmen. The show is developed by Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers, Prometheus) and stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Andrew Howard, Tom Mison and Frances Fisher. The drama is set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, “Watchmen” embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
