Variety is reporting that Michel Legrand is currently scoring Orson Welles’ final film The Other Side of the Wind. The satire starring John Huston, Bob Random, Peter Bogdanovich, Susan Strasberg & Oja Kodar was shot between 1970 and 1976 and never finished and released until restoration work began a few years ago. The movie follows the final days of a legendary director striving for a comeback. Frank Marshall (Raiders of Lost Ark, Jurassic World, The Sixth Sense) and Filip Jan Rymsza are producing the project. Terence Blanchard has begun recording his score for the upcoming crime drama Black Klansman. The film is directed by Spike Lee and stars John David Washington, Topher Grace, Adam Driver, Jasper Paakkonen, Laura Harrier and Corey Hawkins. The movie is based on Ron Stallworth’s autobiography and tells the story of a police detective who dared to challenge the Ku Klux Klan and thwart its attempts to take over Colorado Springs, Colorado. Lee is also producing the Monkeypaw, QC Entertainment and Blumhouse production with Sean McKittrick (Donnie Darko), Raymond Mansfield, Shaun Redick, Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity) and Jordan Peele (Get Out). Brian Tyler’s ‘Formula 1’ Theme Released

The new Formula 1 theme composed by Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, Now You See Me, The MummyThor: The Dark World) has been released as a digital single. The composer recorded the theme with the Philharmonia Orchestra a few weeks ago at AIR Studios in London. Visit Amazon to download the track. The piece was reportedly commissioned by F1’s David Hill and will be featured on the new F1 OTT service that was announced earlier this month.

Toby Chu has recently scored Pixar Animation Studios’ upcoming short Bao. The film is directed by Domee Shi and follows an empty-nesting Chinese mom who gets another chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings springs to life and must come to terms with the bittersweet revelation that nothing stays cute and small forever. Becky Neiman-Cobb is producing the project and Pixar’s Pete Docter (Inside Out, Up) & John Lasseter (Toy Story, Cars) are executive producing. Pathé and Calamity Films announced today that Matt Dunkley will serve as the musical director on the upcoming biographical drama Judy. The film is directed by Rupert Goold (True Story) and stars Renée Zellweger as Judy Garland, alongside Jessie Buckley, Finn Wittrock and Sir Michael Gambon. The movie follows the legendary performer as she arrives in London in the winter of 1968 to perform a series of sold-out concerts. Tom Edge (The Crown, Lovesick) has written the screenplay. Cody Fitzgerald and Clyde Lawrence are reteaming with director Marc Lawrence on Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming fantasy comedy Noelle. The film is written and directed by Lawrence (Two Weeks Notice, Music and Lyrics) and stars Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader, Billy Eichner, Shirley MacLaine and Julie Hagerty. The movie revolves Santa’s daughter who is forced to take over the family business when her father decides to retire and brother ends up getting cold feet prior to his first big Christmas Eve flight. Suzanne Todd (Alice in Wonderland, Memento, Austin Powers) is producing the project. Fitzgerald & Lawrence have previously scored the director’s last feature, The Rewrite. 35mm/42 Records has released a soundtrack album for the biographical drama Nico, 1988. The album features the film’s original music composed by Gatto Ciliegia contro il Grande Freddo. Nico, 1988 is written and directed by Susanna Nicchiarelli and stars Trine Dyrholm, John Gordon Sinclair, Anamaria Marinca, Sandor Funtek, Thomas Trabacchi, Karina Feernandez, Calvin Demba and Francesco Colella. The movie centers on Nico, the Andy Warhol discovery who sang lead vocals on several tracks of VU’s 1967 debut album and focuses on the final two years of her life in 1987 and 1988, approaching 50 and living a solitary life in Manchester. Premiering tonight is the new CBS drama Instinct created by Michael Rauch and starring Alan Cumming, Bojana Novakovic, Daniel Ings, Naveen Andrews and Sharon Leal. The show’s original music is composed by James S. Levine (Glee, Nip/Tuck, Damages, Star, The Last Ship, Bloodline, Major Crimes). The movie revolves around a millennial Persian girl navigating a cross-cultural relationship.
