Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the action adventure Tomb Raider directed by Roar Uthaug and starring Alicia Vikander, Dominic West, Walton Goggins and Daniel Wu. The film’s original music is composed by Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury RoadBatman v. Superman: Dawn of JusticeDivergentBlack Mass). Also opening wide is the coming-of-age drama Love, Simon directed by Greg Berlanti and starring Nick Robinson, Katherine Langford, Alexandra Shipp, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Miles Heizer, Keiynan Lonsdale, Logan Miller, Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel and Tony Hale. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie (click here for more information). A soundtrack album has been released for the documentary Demon House. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mimi Page. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Demon House is written, produced and directed by Zak Bagans and chronicles what happens when Bagans and his crew, after buying a haunted home in Indiana over the phone, sight unseen, are unprepared for the demonic forces that await them at the location referred to as the “portal to Hell.” The movie is being released in select theaters and on VOD this weekend by Freestyle Digital Media. Marcelo Zarvos (Wonder, Fences, The Affair, The Good Shepherd) is composing the music for the upcoming biographical drama Mapplethorpe. The film is written and directed by Ondi Timoner (Dig!, We Live in Public) and stars Matt Smith, Marianne Rendón, John Benjamin Hickey, Brandon Sklenar, McKinley Belcher III and Mark Moses. The movie tells the story of art-school dropout Robert Mapplethorpe who quickly became the enfant terrible of the photography world as the downtown counterculture of 1970s New York reached its zenith. Timoner is also producing the project with actress Eliza Dushku, Nathaniel Dushku and Richard J. Dear Dictator is written and directed by Lisa Addario & Joe Syracuse and stars Michael Caine, Katie Holmes, Odeya Rush, Seth Green and Jason Biggs. The movie follows a British-Caribbean dictator who is forced to flee his island nation and seeks refuge with his pen pal, a rebellious teenage girl in suburban America, and teaches her how to start a revolution and overthrow the “mean girls” in her high school. Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album for the NBC television event Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. The album features the songs from the TV special written by Andrew Llyod Webber and Tim Rice and performed by John Legend, Sara BareillesAlice Cooper and other cast members. The soundtrack will be released on April 6, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert based on the 1971 Broadway musical is executive produced by Webber, Rice, Marc Platt, Craig Zadan & Neil Meron (Hairspray, Chicago) and revolves around the last week of Jesus’ life, told from the perspective of infamous betrayer Judas Iscariot. A score album has been released for the faith-based drama I Can Only Imagine. The album features the film’s original score composed by Brent McCorkle (Unconditional, Steve McQueen: American Icon). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. I Can Only Imagine is directed by Andrew Erwin & Jon Erwin and stars Dennis Quaid, Cloris Leachman, J. Michael Finley, Brody Rose, Madeline Carroll, Tanya Clarke and Trace Adkins. The movie tells the true story of Bart Millard, lead singer of the Christian band MercyMe, who loses his father to cancer and inspires him to write the mega-hit song, I Can Only Imagine. 20th Century Fox TV Records will release a soundtrack album for the FX original series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Emmy Award winner Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story, Feud: Bette and Joan, Scream Queens) who previously composed the music for the first American Crime Story season, The People v. O.J. Simpson. Marvel Music and Hollywood Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Jessica Jones. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Sean Callery (24, Homeland, Marvel’s Inhumans, Designated Survivor, Bones), as well as a new version of the composer’s main title theme, for which he received his fourth Emmy Award in 2016. Also included is the song I Want Your Cray Cray performed by Rachel Taylor & Kandi Marks. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 16 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the Russian drama Mathilde. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Logan, The Hurt Locker, World War Z, Scream, The Wolverine) and performed by the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 16 and will be available to download on Amazon. Quartet Records has announced a CD version to be released in a couple of weeks. Mathilde is directed by Aleksey Uchitel and stars Danila Kozlovsky, Michalina Olszanska and Lars Eidinger. The movie tells the story of the tumultuous romance between the heir to the Russian throne, Nikolai Romanov, and a ballerina of the Imperial Theater, Mathilde Kshesinskaja, from the time they met in 1890 to the coronation of Nikolai and his wife Alexandra Fedorovna in 1896. Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Molly’s Game, All the Money in the World, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) has announced on Twitter that he has scored the new National Geographic docu-series One Strange Rock. The show is executive produced by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain) & Jane Root, hosted by Will Smith and tells the extraordinary story of Earth, told from the only people who have ever left it: astronauts. The 10-part series, which was filmed across 45 countries, on six continents and from outer space, reveals the twists of fate that have allowed life to emerge, survive and thrive on Earth.
