The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the animated feature Abominable directed by Jill Culton and starring Chloe Bennet, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Albert Tsai, Eddie Izzard, Sarah Paulson and Michelle Wong. The film’s original score is composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Legend of Tarzan). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Bebe Rexha, Phil Beaudreau, Coldplay & others. Click here for the full album details.

Opening semi-wide in around 450 theaters is the biographical drama Judy directed by Rupert Goold and starring Renee Zellweger, Jessie Buckley, Finn Wittrock, Rufus Sewell and Michael Gambon. Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain) has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack featuring the composer’s music will be released next month and will be announced soon. Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull & Robert McDowell to Score Daniel Scheinert’s ‘The Death of Dick Long’

Andy Hull & Robert McDowell are reuniting with director Daniel Scheinert on the upcoming feature The Death of Dick Long. The film stars Michael Abbott Jr., Virginia Newcomb, Andre Hyland, Sarah Baker and Jess Weixler. Billy Chew wrote the screenplay. Scheinert is also producing the project with Jonathan Wang and Melodie Sisk (Little Sister, Social Animals). Hull & McDowell have previously scored 2016’s Swiss Army Man, which was co-directed by Scheinert and Daniel Kwan.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action adventure Independence Day: Resurgence directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward. The film’s original music is composed by Thomas Wander & Harald Kloser (2012, White House Down, The Day After Tomorrow, 10’000 BC). Also opening wide is the historical drama Free State of Jones directed by Gary Ross and starring Matthew McConaughey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mahershala Ali and Keri Russell. Nicholas Britell (The Big Short, A Tale of Love and Darkness) has composed the film’s original music. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song I’m Crying by Lucinda Williams. ‘Swiss Army Man’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the indie comedy Swiss Army Man. The album features the film’s original music composed by Andy Hull and Robert McDowell of the indie rock band Manchester Orchestra. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 24, 2016 and physically on July 8. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD and click here to check out audio clips. Andy Hull and Robert McDowell of the indie rock band Manchester Orchestra have composed the music for the upcoming indie comedy drama Swiss Army Man. The film is directed by Daniel Scheinert & Daniel Kwan and stars Paul Dano, Daniel Radcliffe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The movie follows a hopeless man stranded in the wild who discovers a mysterious dead body. As he realizes the body is the key to his survival, he is forced to convince a dead body that life is worth living. Miranda Bailey (Super, The Diary of a Teenage Girl) is producing the project with Jonathan Wang, Lawrence Inglee (The Messenger, Rampart), Amanda Marshall, Eyal Rimmon (Waxwork) and Lauren Mann.
