Loon Music has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1992 indie comedy In the Soup directed by Alexander Rockwell and starring Steve Buscemi, Seymour Cassel, Jennifer Beals, Will Patton, Stanley Tucci. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mader (Eat Drink Man Woman, The Wedding Banquet, Clockwatchers). The Doctor from India is directed by Jeremy Frindel and follows Dr. Vasant Lad and his mission to bring the ancient holistic healthcare system of wellness called Ayurveda from India to the West in the late 1970s. Alex Heffes is reteaming with director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown) on the upcoming crime thriller Miss Bala. The film starring Gina Rodriguez, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Matt Lauria and Cristina Rodlo is based on the 2011 Mexican film of the same title (directed by Gerardo Naranjo and scored by Emilio Kauderer) and centers on a woman who, after her friend goes missing in Tijuana, finds herself a pawn in a dangerous game being played by the CIA, the DEA and a charismatic young crime boss. Premiering on Friday, April 20, is the Amazon original movie Pass Over directed and produced by Spike Lee and starring Jon Michael Hill, Julian Parker, Ryan Hallahan and Blake DeLong. The filmed staged play written by Antoinette Nwandu centers on two young men as they pass the time dreaming of the promised land. The album features tracks from guitar virtuoso Mick Ronson’s solo records, as well as material from his key collaborations with David Bowie, Elton John, Ian Hunter, Michael Chapman and Queen. Also included is a previously unreleased cover version of This Is For You by Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott and a piano tribute to Ronson from Bowie’s piano-man and band alumni Mike Garson. Four new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the action adventure Rampage directed by Brad Peyton and starring Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, P.J. Byrne and Marley Shelton. The film’s original music is composed by Andrew Lockington (San Andreas, Journey to the Center of the Earth). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and a new track by Kid Cudi.
