Johann Johannsson was named Film Composer of the Year at the 18th World Soundtrack Awards, tonight’s closing event of the 45th Ghent Film Festival. Among the late composer’s final scores released over the last year were Mandy, Mary Magdalene (co-scored with Hildur Guðnadóttir who accepted the award on his behalf) and The Mercy. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Malicious. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff Cardoni (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Silicon Valley, CSI: Miami, Just Friends, Speechless, Step Up All In). The soundtrack is already available digitally overseas and is expected to be released this Friday in the U.S. (visit Amazon to download the album). Malicious is written and directed by Michael Winnick and stars Bojana Novakovic, Josh Stewart, Melissa Bolona, Yvette Yates and Delroy Lind. Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Crown, The Legend of Tarzan) has recently scored the upcoming comedy drama Hot Air. The film is directed by Frank Coraci (The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy) and stars Steve Coogan, Neve Campbell and Taylor Russell. The movie centers on a conservative talk radio host who finds his world turned upside down when his 16-year-old niece comes crashing into his life. Will Reichel wrote the screenplay. Nonesuch Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1986 cult classic True Stories directed by David Byrne and starring Byrne himself, John Goodman, Swoosie Kurtz and Spalding Gray. The movie’s complete soundtrack featuring both the songs by Talking Heads and the movie’s score composed by Byrne, as well as tracks by Terry Allen & The Panhandle Mystery Band, Carl Finch, Esteban “Steve” Jordan and Banda Eclipse will receive its first CD and digital release on November 23, 2018. The show is created by Michael Petroni (The Book Thief, The Rite, Queen of the Damned) and stars Michelle Monaghan, John Ortiz, Tomer Sisley, Mehdi Dehbi, Melinda Page Hamilton, Stefania LaVie Owen, Jane Adams, Sayyid El Alami, Fares Landoulsi and Wil Traval. The 10-part drama chronicles the modern world’s reaction to al-Masih, a man who first appears in the Middle East, creating a groundswell of followers around him claiming he is the Messiah. Walt Disney Records has announced the full details of the soundtrack album for the fantasy adventure The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. The album features the film’s music composed by James Newton Howard (The Hunger GamesKing KongThe Sixth SenseFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) based on themes from Tchaikovsky’s classic 1892 ballet score. The music was recorded with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London and conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. Pianist Lang Lang is featured as a soloist. Also included is the original song Fall On Me written by Ian Axel, Chad Vaccarino, Matteo Bocelli & Fortunato Zampaglione and performed by Andrea Bocelli feat. Andrew Kawczynski is composing the music for the upcoming British thriller The Corrupted. The film is directed by Ron Scalpello (Pressure, My Name Is Lenny) and stars Sam Claflin, Timothy Spall, Hugh Bonneville and Noel Clarke. The movie follows an ex-con determined to rebuild his life after losing everything at the hands of a local crime syndicate. Nick Moorcroft (Finding Your Feet, Urban Hymn) wrote the screenplay. Andrew Berg & John Sachs (Finding Your Feet) are producing the project for Eclipse Films, alongside Nik Bower (Final Portrait) for Riverstone Pictures and Laure Vaysse (Tell It to the Bees) for REP Crime. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release soundtrack release for the 1993 action comedy sequel Another Stakeout directed by John Badham and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Emilio Estevez and Rosie O’Donnell. The album features the original music from the Touchstone Pictures production composed and conducted by Arthur B. Rubinstein (WarGamesBlue ThunderThe Hard WayNick of TimeThe Best of Times) who also scored the Badhman’s 1987 original Stakeout movie. Philip White has recently scored the upcoming comedy Nobody’s Fool. The film is written and directed by Tyler Perry and stars Tiffany Haddish, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick, Mehcad Brooks, Amber Riley and Whoopi Goldberg. The movie centers on a woman who is forced to accept that she may be getting “catfished” by an online boyfriend whom she has never met in person, when her wild sister gets released from prison and re-enters her life. Perry is also producing the comedy with Will Areu and Mark E.
