John Paesano has signed on to score the upcoming sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim 2. The film is directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus) and stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Jing Tiang, Cailee Spaeny, Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Zhang Jin, Chen Zitong, Lan Yingying and Qian Yong Chen. No plot details have been revealed yet. Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni (Godzilla, The Great Wall, Warcraft) and Mary Parent (The Revenant) are producing the Legendary Entertainment production with Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) who helmed the original film, as well as Boyega & Femi Oguns for their Upper Room production company. Rhino Warner Classics will release a soundtrack album for Martin Scorsese’s drama Silence. The album features the film’s original music composed by Kim Allen Kluge and Kathryn Kluge. The soundtrack will be released physically on February 24, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Silence starring Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, Tadanobu Asano, Ciarán Hinds and Liam Neeson is set in the 17th century and centers on two Jesuit priests who face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and propagate Christianity. The full details of the latest soundtrack album for the BBC original series Sherlock have been announced. The album features the original music from the show’s fourth season composed by David Arnold (Independence Day, Casino Royale, Stargate, Shaft, Tomorrow Never Dies) and Michael Price (The Inbetweeners 2). Included is the music from all three episodes, The Six Thatchers and The Lying Detective, which has already been released digitally, as well as the score from The Final Problem, which is being released digitally today and is now available to download on Amazon. In addition to the nationwide expansions of Peter Berg’s Patriots Day, Ben Affleck’s Live by Night and Martin Scorsese’s Silence, three new movies are opening wide:
Opening in most theaters is the family movie Monster Trucks directed by Chris Wedge and starring Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Holt McCallany, Barry Pepper, Tucker Albrizzi, Danny Glover, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Frank Whaley and Thomas Lennon. The film’s original music is composed by David Sardy (21, Zombieland, Premium Rush, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance). The movie follows a a high school senior who builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. No soundtrack album has been announced. Also opening wide is the supernatural thriller The Bye Bye Man directed by Stacy Title and starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Faye Dunaway, Douglas Smith, Cressida Bonas, Lucien Laviscount and Douglas Jones. The Newton Brothers (Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Life of Crime) have composed the film’s original music.
