Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Happy Death Day) has recently recorded his score for the pilot episode of the upcoming TNT original series Snowpiercer. The show, which was originally written by Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds, The Black Dahlia) and later developed by Graeme Manson (Orphan Black), is based on Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 feature of the same title (scored Marco Beltrami) and stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Mickey Sumner, Annalise Basso, Sasha Frolova, Alison Wright, Benjamin Haigh and Roberto Urbina. A soundtrack album has been released for the new BBC series Back to Life. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Solomon Grey (The Last Post, The Casual Vacancy). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Back to Life is created by Laura Solon and Daisy Haggard who also stars in the show, alongside Geraldine James, Richard Durden, Adeel Akhtar, Jamie Michie, Souad Faress and Jo Martin. The comedy centers on a woman who returns home after eighteen years and stumbles back into adult life in the coastal town she once knew, while the shadow of her past looms large. Eric V. Hachikian (Marco Polo, When We First Met, Life of a King) and John Jennings Boyd (Being Evel, A Lego Brickumentary) have composed the original score for the new MTV original movie How High 2. The film is directed by Bruce Leddy and stars Lil Yachty, D.C. Young Fly, Alyssa Goss, DeRay Davis and Mary Lynn Rajskub, as well as Mike Epps who is reprising his role from the original movie. The movie is the sequel to the 2001 theatrical feature and follows two young “potrepreneurs” on a magical hash-fueled journey to fund their on-demand munchies delivery start-up. Premiering tonight in the U.S. is the mini-series Les Miserables developed by Andrew Davies based on Victor Hugo’s novel and starring Dominic West, David Oyelowo, Lily Collins, Adeel Akhtar, Olivia Colman, Ellie Bamber, Josh O’Connor and Erin Kellyman. The show’s original music is composed by John Murphy (28 Days Later, Sunshine, Miami Vice, Snatch). Premiering tomorrow, April 15 is the Netflix original series No Good Nick created by David H. Chris Alan Lee has been tapped to score the upcoming BET original series The First Wives Club. The show is developed by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip, The Sun Is Also a Star) based on the 1996 feature of the same title and stars Ryan Michelle Bathe, Jill Scott and Michelle Buteau. The comedy revolves around three women who band together after their marriages fall apart and find strength in their sisterhood — and of course a little revenge. Four new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Missing Link written and directed by Chris Butler and starring Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Zach Galifianakis, Timothy Olyphant, Emma Thompson, David Walliams, Stephen Fry and Matt Lucas. Carter Burwell (Carol, Fargo, Twilight, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) has composed the film’s original score. ‘Tolkien’ Soundtrack Details

Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the biographical drama Tolkien. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Thomas Newman (American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo, Skyfall, Wall-E). The soundtrack will be released on May 3 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon (CD version) and here (digital version). Tolkien is directed by Dome Karukoski and stars Nicholas Hoult, Lily Collins, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts and Colm Meaney. The movie explores the formative years of the renowned author’s life as he finds friendship, courage and inspiration among a fellow group of writers and artists at school. New Soundtrack Album for ‘Knight Rider’ Announced

Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1980s cult NBC series Knight Rider created by Glen A. Larson and starring David Hasselhoff, Edward Mulhare, Patricia McPherson, Rebecca Holden and Peter Parros. The soundtrack selections of the show’s original score composed by Stu Phillips (Battlestar Galactica, Quincy, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century), including the content of the 2005 soundtrack release for the series on the first disc, and previously unreleased music on the second disc. The 2-CD set is limited to 2,000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. A vinyl edition will be coming out tomorrow on Record Store Day.

The album features the original songs from the show written by Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid) and Glenn Slater (Galavant, UglyDolls) and performed by cast members Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Eden Espinosa, Jeff Ross, James Monroe Iglehart and Fred Tatasciore. Also included are three tracks from the show’s original score composed by Kevin Kliesch (Sofia the First, Thundercats).
