Craft Recordings has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1971 classic Shaft directed by Gordan Parks and starring Richard Roundtree, Moses Gunn, Charles Cioffi and Christopher St. John. The album features the film’s original music composed and performed by Isaac Hayes who received an Academy Award in the Best Original Song category and was also nominated for Best Original Score for his music for the movie. The 2-CD set includes the remastered 1971 original soundtrack album on the first disc, as well as the film score as heard in the film (previously only available in a box set released in 2008) on the second disc. The soundtrack, which also features liner notes from Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, will be released on June 14, 2019. Click here to pre-order the album and to check out the full track list. La-La Land Records has announced the details of the world premiere official soundtrack release for the 1977 horror thriller The Sentinel directed by Michael Winner and starring Chris Sarandon, Cristina Raines, Ava Gardner, Burgess Meredith and Martin Balsam. The album features the original score from the Universal Pictures production composed by Golden Globe nominee Gil Mellé (The Andromeda Strain, The Last Chase, Bone). Also included are bonus source and musical effects cues. The CD, which is limited to 3,000 copies, will be available to order later today on the label’s official website. Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is providing the theme song for the upcoming Chinese war epic The Eight Hundred (Ba bai). The film is directed by Guan Hu (Mr. SixCow) and tells the story of a group of Chinese soldiers and draft dodgers in 1937 who put up a four-day defense of a Shanghai warehouse complex just as Japanese forces are overwhelming China. Andrew Kawczynski is scoring the film and previously announced composer Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Crown) is writing the theme for the Huayi Bros. production, which marks the first Chinese feature to be shot with Imax digital cameras. Bryce Dessner of the rock band The National has composed the original music for the upcoming drama The Kitchen. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton, World Trade Center) and stars Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, Elisabeth Moss, Domhnall Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Brian d’Arcy James, Margo Martindale, Common, Bill Camp, Jeremy Bobb, Alicia Coppola, John Sharian and Myk Watford. The movie is based on the Vertigo comic book series from DC Entertainment created by Ollie Masters & Ming Doyle and follows three 1978 Hell’s Kitchen housewives whose mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI and decide to take the Irish mafia’s matters into their own hands. Universal Music/Polydor Records will release the official soundtrack album for Danny Boyle’s musical romantic comedy Yesterday. The album features the Beatles covers from the movie performed by lead actor Himesh Patel, as well as a duet by Patel & Lily James. Also included is the film’s original score composed by Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Ocean’s 8, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.). The soundtrack will be released on June 21, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon (digital version) and here (CD version). Warner Music Poland has released a soundtrack album for the Polish drama Dolce Fine Giornata. The album features the film’s original music composed by Daniel Bloom (All That I Love, Lasting) (feat. Leszek Mozdzer). The soundtrack is now available to stream on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Dolce Fine Giornata is co-written and directed by Jacek Borcuch and stars Krystyna Janda, Kasia Smutniak, Vincent Riotta, Antonio Catania, Lorenzo de Moor and Robin Renuccistars. The Tuscany-set movie follows a woman whose stable family life begins to erode as her relationship with a young immigrant develops against a backdrop of terrorism and eroding democracy. The show is developed by Andrew Davies (War & Peace, Les Miserables) based on Jane Austen’s novel of the same title and stars Rose Williams, Theo James, Anne Reid, Kris Marshall, Kate Ashfield, Jack Fox, Charlotte Spencer, Lily Sacofsky and Adrian Scarborough. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nainita Desai (The Confessions of Thomas Quick, Darkness Visible). Enemy Within is written and directed by Gabriel Robertson and stars Joseph Naufahu, Kazuma Sano, Beulah Koale, Rila Fukushima and Melissa Paulo. The movie is based on a true story and follows a Japanese pilot who crash-lands on the tiny Hawaiian island of Niʻihau and is met with courtesy and traditional Hawaiian hospitality from the locals – until they discover he was part of the recent attack on Pearl Harbor.
