Remastered ‘Uncommon Valor’ Soundtrack Album Announced

Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1983 action/war drama Uncommon Valor directed by Ted Kotcheff and starring Gene Hackman, Fred Ward, Randall “Tex” Cobb, Reb Brown, Patrick Swayze, Robert Stack, Harold Sylvester and Tim Thomerson. The album features the remastered (and slightly expanded) original score from the film composed and conducted by Academy Award winner James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, The Land Before Time, A Beautiful Mind, The Mask of Zorro, Apollo 13, Field of Dreams), including around 10 minutes of alternate takes. Music Box Records has announced a soundtrack album for the French drama Auction (Le tableau volé). The album features the film’s original music composed by Alexei Aigui (I Am Not Your Negro, The Truth, The Young Karl Marx, Wild Field, Exterminate All the Brutes, Silver Dollar Road). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, April 26 (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download). A CD version, which also includes Aigui’s scores from Je pense à vous, Le Grand Alibi and Cherchez Hortense, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples. Island Records has released the first song from the Netflix original animated film Thelma the Unicorn. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is Fire Inside written by Theo Katzman & Louis Cato, produced by Mike Elizondo and performed by Brittany Howard who also stars in the title role. The album features the film’s original music composed by Kevin Riepl (Superman: Man of Tomorrow, Cabin Fever, Green Lantern: Beware My Power, The Night Crew, Justice Society: World War II). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 23 by Gardener Recordings (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download). Academy Announces Updates Rules in Original Score Category

The Academy’s Board of Governors has approved rules and campaign regulations for the 97th Academy Awards, including two changes in the Original Score category. The new rules state that “three composers will be allowed to receive individual statuettes if, in rare circumstances, they all contributed fully to the score. Previously, three composers were required to submit as a group. The rules now clarify the definition of a group as a recognized band. The shortlist will increase from 15 to 20 titles”.
