Michael Giacchino has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Let Him Go. The film is written and directed by Thomas Bezucha and stars Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Lesley Manville, Will Brittain, Jeffrey Donovan, Kayli Carter and Booboo Stewart. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Larry Watson and follows a retired sheriff and his wife as they leave their Montana ranch to rescue their young grandson and discover that he is in the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas. Two new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Already playing in theaters since Wednesday is the new film adaptation of Little Women written and directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, Emma Watson, Eliza Scanlen, Timothée Chalamet, Chris Cooper, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep. The film’s original music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows). Also playing nationwide is the animated feature Spies in Disguise directed by Troy Quane & Nick Bruno and starring Will Smith, Tom Holland, Ben Mendelsohn, Karen Gillan, Rashida Jones, DJ Khaled and Masi Oka. Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Ghostbusters, Bombshell, Tropic Thunder) has composed the film’s original score. ‘The Mandalorian’ Chapter 8 Soundtrack Released

Walt Disney Records has released a new soundtrack album for the Disney+ original Star Wars series The Mandalorian. The album features the original music from the eighth episode and Season 1 finale of the show composed by Academy Award winner Ludwig Goransson (Black Panther, Creed, Community, Venom, Tenet). The soundtrack is now available to stream and download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. The label has previously released soundtracks for the series’ first seven chapters over the last couple of weeks. ‘Vikings’ Seasons 4 & 5 Soundtrack Albums to Be Released

Sony Classical will release two new soundtrack albums for the History original series Vikings featuring original music from the show’s fourth and fifth season composed by Emmy Award winner Trevor Morris (The Tudors, Immortals, The Borgias, Olympus/London Has Fallen, Pillar of the Earth). Trent Reznor has confirmed in a recent interview with Revolver that he is teaming up with Atticus Ross to score the upcoming Netflix original movie Mank. The film is directed by David Fincher and stars Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Charles Dance, Tuppence Middleton, Arliss Howard, Ferdinand Kingsley, Jamie McShane, Joseph Cross, Sam Troughton, Toby Leonard Moore, Tom Burke, and Tom Pelphrey. The movie is based on a script by Fincher’s late father, Jack, and tells the story screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz’s tumultuous development of the script for Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane.
