A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, A Hundred-Foot Journey, Couples Retreat) is composing the original music for the upcoming American/India/Bangladesh co-production No Man’s Land. The film is directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki (Satuday Afternoon) and stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Megan Mitchell and Tahsan Rahman Khan. Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury RoadDeadpool, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of JusticeAlita: Battle Angel, Terminator: Dark Fate) has recently been scoring the upcoming monster movie Godzilla vs. Kong. The film is directed by Adam Wingard (The Guest, You’re Next) and stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Shun Oguri, Jessica Henwick and Brian Tyree Henry. The Legendary Pictures production pits the two famous monsters against each other in an epic battle. Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok) and Max Borenstein (The Terror) wrote the screenplay. Patrick Kirst is returning as the composer of the upcoming Netflix original film The Kissing Booth 2. The movie is directed by Vince Marcello and stars Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi, Meganne Young, Carson White, Taylor Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Molly Ringwald. The romantic comedy follows Elle Evans after she just had the most romantic summer of her life with her reformed bad-boy boyfriend Noah Flynn and heads back to high school for her senior year. Marcello also co-wrote the screenplay with Jay Arnold based on characters from Beth Reekles’ 2012 young adult book. The Newton Brothers (The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep, Oculus, Life of Crime) have signed on to score the upcoming thriller The Forever Purge. The film is directed by Everardo Gout (Mars, Days of Grace) and stars Ana de la Reguera, Tenoch Huerta, Leven Rambin, Will Patton and Cassidy Freeman. No plot details have been announced yet for the fifth installment in The Purge series. James DeMonaco who wrote the previous movies and directed the first three parts wrote the screenplay. Jason Blum (Get Out, Paranormal Activity, Halloween, Insidious) is producing the Blumhouse production with James DeMonaco and Sébastien K. MVA Audio will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Rolling Stone: Life and Death of Brian Jones. The album features Brian Jones-related songs by Dick Taylor & The Red Squirls, Alabama 3, The Primadonna Reeds, The Proper Ornaments, among others. Also included is a track by the film’s composer John Roome (One in the Chamber, Dead Sea, Chariot). The soundtrack will be released digitally this coming Friday, June 12 and is now available for pre-order here. A vinyl edition is also coming out on the same date and is available to order on Amazon. Rolling Stone: Life and Death of Brian Jones is directed by Danny Garcia and explores the rise of Brian Jones who emerged as “the face” and poster boy of the Bohemian Swingin’ London scene, topping the charts with The Rolling Stones and dating model/actress Anita Pallenber, as well as his untimely death. Variety is reporting that Walt Disney Studios is developing an original movie musical based on the song catalog of Lionel Richie. The film, which is tentatively titled All Night Long, will use some of Richie’s greatest hits in the live-action feature, which is being targeting a theatrical release. Pete Chiarelli (Crazy Rich Asians, The Proposal)  is currently writing the screenplay. Richie is producing the project with his manager Bruce Eskowitz. Cavalry Media’s Dana Brunetti (The Social Network, House of Cards) and Matt Del Piano serve as executive producers. Richie has previously contributed several original songs for movies and received an Academy Award for Say You Say Me from 1985’s White Nights. Read the rest of this entry »

Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack EP for Judd Apatow’s comedy The King of Staten Island. The 6-track EP features the film’s original music composed by Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Bridesmaids, Freaks & Geeks, Funny People, The Big Sick, Bad Teacher) who collaborated with Nosaj Thing and Emile Haynie on his score. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, June 10 and will be available to stream/download here. The King of Staten Island is co-written and directed by Apatow and stars Pete Davidson, Marisa Tomei, Bill Burr, Bel Powley, Maude Apatow, Steve Buscemi. The movie revolves around a man who has been a case of arrested development ever since his firefighter father died and is now chasing a dream of becoming a tattoo artist. Last week, Debbie Wiseman (Wilde, Wolf Hall, Adventures of Arsene Lupin, Vampire Killers) has recorded her score for the upcoming British biographical drama To Olivia (aka An Unquiet Life). The film is directed by John Hay (There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble) and stars Keeley Hawes as American actress Patricia Neal, Hugh Bonneville as her husband, the British children’s author Roald Dahl, as well as Sam Heughan as screen icon Paul Newman. The movie is set between New York, England and Los Angeles at the beginning of the 1960s, and focuses on Dahl’s struggles to write some of his most famous works and Neal’s return to acting with Hud, for which she finally won an Oscar. The album features the film’s original music composed by Richard Harvey (The Little PrinceLutherArabian Nights, Animal Farm, Death of a President). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. The Macabre Case of Prom Piram is written and directed by Manop Udomdej and stars Kamol Sirithranon, Pimpan Chalayonkup, Sompob Benjathikul and Rachanu Boonchuduang. The movie centers on a rookie cop in Thailand who must solve the brutal rape and murder of a woman that is somehow linked to a celebration held for a government official in the isolated town of Prom Pi Ram. The movie is directed by Rachel Talalay (Tank Girl, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare) and stars Tamara Smart, Oona Laurence, Alessio Scalzotto, Indya Moore, Tom Felton and Ian Ho. The family fantasy adventure is based on Joe Ballarini’s book trilogy of the same title and follows a first-time babysitter whose charge is kidnapped by the Boogeyman, when she discovers a secret society of fierce babysitters who protect children – and an entire world of monsters she will have to fight in order to save him.
