‘Philip Glass – Music for Film’ Album Announced

Film Fest Gent has announced the new album Philip Glass – Music for Film featuring music by the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at last year’s World Soundtrack Awards, including all-new studio recordings of selected scores by the composer performed by the Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by the festival’s music director Dirk Brossé. Titles include Glass’ Academy Award-winning scores from Martin Scorsese’s Kundun, Stephen Daldry’s The Hours and Richard Eyre’s Notes on a Scandal, as well as Godfrey Reggio’s Koyaanisqatsi, its second sequel Naqoyqatsi, Errol Morris’s The Fog of War, Woody Allen’s Cassandra’s Dream, Neil Burger’s The Illusionist and Paul Schrader’s Mishima. Also included are over half an hour of previously unreleased music, including selections from David Koepp’s Secret Window, D.J. Caruso’s Taking Lives, the 9/11 documentary Rebirth, the complete score for John Irvin’s Hamburger Hill, a suite from his score for Scott Hick’s No Reservations, two orchestral pieces written for Peter Weir’s The Truman Show, the original complete ending of the piano duet from Park Chan-wook’s Stoker and a new arrangement of Helen’s Theme from Bernard Rose’s Candyman.
