Craig Wedren is scoring the new NBC drama New Amsterdam. The show is created by David Schulner (Do No Harm, Emerald City) and stars Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher and Tyler Labine. The medical drama is inspired by the oldest public hospital in America and follows the brilliant and charming Dr. Max Goodwin, the institution’s newest medical director, who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care.

Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans to Score ‘American Gods’ Season 2
Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans have been tapped to score the second season of the Starz original series American Gods. The show is based on Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel and stars Ian McShane, Ricky Whittle, Yetide Badaki, Crispin Glover and Orlando Jones. They will be joined by new cast members Dean Winters, Devery Jacobs, Sakina Jaffrey, and Kahyun Kim. Gaiman is also producing the new season with McShane, Stefanie Berk, Craig Cegielski (Camelot) and Scott Hornbacher (Mad Men).
‘The Staircase’ Soundtrack Released
A soundtrack album has been released for the docu-series The Staircase. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Jocelyn Pook (Eyes Wide Shut, The Wife, The Merchant of Venice, Brick Lane). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Staircase is directed and executive produced by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade and centers on the trial of author Michael Peterson who, after the mysterious death of his wife, watches his life go under the microscope. The series premiered in 2004 in France on Canal + and the following year on BBC Four in the UK and on the Sundance Channel in the U.S.. An updated version featuring three new episodes premiered earlier this year and is now available exclusively on Netflix.

Premiering tomorrow, September 24, is the new NBC drama Manifest created by Jeff Rake and starring Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Parveen Kaur and Luna Blaise. The show’s original music is composed by Danny Lux (Grey’s Anatomy, Halloween: Resurrection, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal, My Name Is Earl). Also premiering tomorrow is the CBS drama Magnum P.I. developed by Peter M. Lenkov & Eric Guggenheim based on the classic 80s series and starring Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill and Tim Kang. Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Fast & Furious, Crazy Rich Asians) & Keith Power (MacGyver, Hawaii Five-0) have scored the first episode and Power is composing the music for the rest of the season. Soundtrack Album for Hulu’s ‘The First’ to Be Released
New Deal and Record Collection will release the first soundtrack album for the Hulu original series The First. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Colin Stetson (Hereditary, Blue Caprice, Lavender, Outlaws and Angels). The Vol. 1 soundtrack will be released digitally on September 28, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The First is created by Beau Willimon and stars Sean Penn, Natascha McElhone, LisaGay Hamilton, Oded Fehr, James Ransone and Hannah Ware. The drama follows the first human mission to Mars and explores the challenges of taking the first steps toward interplanetary colonization, from the perspectives of the the astronauts, their families and loved ones, as well as the ground team on Earth.
Soundtrack Album for Netflix’s ‘Maniac’ Released
Paramount Music has released a soundtrack album for the Netflix original limited series Maniac. The album features selections of the original music from the show composed by Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, The Good Doctor, Atypical, Easy). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Maniac is directed by Cary Fukunaga and stars Emma Stone, Jonah Hill, Sonoya Mizuno, Justin Theroux, Julia Garner and Sally Field. The comedy developed by Patrick Somervile based on the Norwegian television series of the same title follows two strangers who find themselves caught up in a mind-bending pharmaceutical trial gone awry.
Netflix’s ‘Hilda’ to Feature Theme Song by Grimes & Score by Dan Mangan & Ryan Carlson
Grimes has written the theme song for the new Netflix animated series Hilda. The track, which also features vocals by the singer/songwriter, opens every episode of the show’s first season. Dan Mangan (Hector and the Search for Happiness) has composed the underscore for several episodes, as well as the end titles theme of the show. The other episodes are scored by Ryan Carlson for Vapor RMW. Hilda is created by Luke Pearson based on his comic book series and features the voices of Bella Ramsey as the title character, as well as Ameerah Falzon-Ojo, Oliver Nelson, Daisy Haggard and Rasmus Hardiker.
Soundtrack Album for HBO’s ‘Insecure’ Season 3 to Be Released
RCA Records will release a new soundtrack album for the HBO original series Insecure. The album features the songs from the show’s third season by artists including Miguel, Childish Major, Radiant Children, Victoria Monet, Opal, Peyton, LION BABE, Cautious Clay, Siaira Shawn, Derrius Logan & more. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 21 and will be available to download on Amazon. The label has previously released two soundtrack albums for the series’ first two seasons, as well as several digital singles. Insecure is created by Issa Rae & Larry Wilmore and stars Rae herself, alongside Yvonne Orji, Lisa Joyce, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales and Y’lan Noel.
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross to Score HBO’s ‘Watchmen’ Series
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross have been hired to score HBO’s upcoming television adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel Watchmen. The show is developed by Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers, Prometheus) and stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Andrew Howard, Tom Mison and Frances Fisher. The drama is set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, “Watchmen” embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
‘Greenleaf’ Season 3 Soundtrack Announced
Lionsgate Records will release a new soundtrack album for the OWN original series Greenleaf. The album features a selections of songs from the show’s third season performed by artists including Mavis Staples, Josiah Bell, Chimere Scott, Koryn Hawthorne & more. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 28, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on iTunes. Two songs, Changed by Patti LaBelle & Deborah Joy Winans and A Leak in the Building by Voice of Atlanta are already available as digital singles. RCA Inspiration & Malaco Records have previously released two soundtrack albums for the first two seasons.
