Kurt Farquhar (Black Lightning, The King of Queens, Moesha, Sister, Sister, Being Mary Jane) has composed the original score for the new Lifetime original film Wendy Williams: The Movie. The biographical drama is directed by Darren Grant (Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Make It Happen) and stars Ciera Payton in the title role, alongside Morocco Omari as Wendy’s ex-husband Kevin Hunter. The movie chronicles Williams’ journey, from her scrappy upstart days in urban radio to the success of her own syndicated talk show.

Bobby Krlic (The Haxan Cloak) Tapped as Composer of ‘Snowpiercer’ Season 2
Bobby Krlic (aka The Haxan Cloak) (Midsommar, The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, Seven Seconds, Triple 9) has been tapped to score the second season of the TNT original series Snowpiercer. The new season stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand and Steven Ogg. Graeme Manson (Orphan Black) serves as the project’s showrunner and is executive producing the Tomorrow Studios production with Marty Adelstein & Becky Clements (Hanna), Matthew O’Connor (Continuum), Ben Rosenblatt, Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange, Sinister), and the original 2013 film’s producers, including Bong Joon Ho (Parasite), Miky Lee, Tae-sung Jeong, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi.

Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the USA original series Briarpatch. The album features selections of the original score from the show composed by Giancarlo Vulcano (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Modern Persuasion, Great News, Gayby). Briarpatch is created by Andy Greenwald based on the novel of the same title by Ross Thomas and stars Rosario Dawson, Edi Gathegi, Jay F. Ferguson, Kim Dickens and Brian Geraghty. The drama follows a Washington political fixer as she returns to her hometown to unravel the mystery surrounding her sister’s death and comes face-to-face with old acquaintances carrying new agendas.
Michael Abels Scoring HBO’s ‘Fake Famous’
Michael Abels (Get Out, Us, Bad Education, See You Yesterday, All Day and a Night) has recently scored the new HBO documentary Fake Famous. The film is directed by Nick Bilton and explores the meaning of fame and influence in the digital age through an innovative social experiment. The movie follows three LA-based people with relatively small followings and the attempts made to turn them into famous influencers by purchasing fake followers and bots to “engage” with their social media accounts. Bilton (The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley) is also producing the Consolidated Documentaries production with Annabelle Dunne & Mary Recine (Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold).
‘The Woman in White’ Soundtrack Album Released
Manners McDade has released a soundtrack album for the BBC mini-series The Woman in White. The album features selections of the original music from the show composed by Jon Opstad (Black Mirror, We Hunt Together, Silent Witness, Safe House). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other digital music stores), where you can also check out audio samples. The Woman in White is written by Fiona Seres based on Wilkie Collins’ novel and stars Ben Hardy, Jessie Buckley, Olivia Vinall, Dougray Scott, Riccardo Scamarcio and Charles Dance. The 5-part drama directed by Carl Tibbetts centers on the lives of two half-sisters and their drawing master as they get caught up in a deadly conspiracy revolving around a mentally ill woman dressed all in white.

Premiering on Wednesday, January 28, is the Australian drama Penguin Bloom directed by Glendyn Ivin and starring Naomi Watts, Andrew Lincoln, Jacki Weaver, Griffin Murray-Johnston, Rachel House, Leeanna Walsman, Lisa Hensley, Felix Cameron and Abe Clifford-Barr. The film’s original music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Wonder, The Affair, Enough Said, The Good Shepherd, Ray Donovan, The Door in the Floor). Alec Puro Scoring Netflix’s ‘The Crew’
Alec Puro (The Art of Getting By, Higher Ground, The First Time, The Fosters, The Scribbler) is the composer of the new Netflix original series The Crew. The show is created by Jeff Lowell (The Ranch) and stars Kevin James, Freddie Stroma, Sarah Stiles, Gary Anthony Williams and Dan Ahdoot. The comedy revolves around a NASCAR crew chief who has to protect himself and his his tight-knit racing team when a new boss steps in and shakes things up.
Soundtrack EP for Amazon’s ‘Flack’ Released
Dharma Records has released a new soundtrack EP for the Amazon original series Flack. The EP features four songs from the show co-written by series composer Alexander Wolfe and performed by TYGERMYLK. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other digital music store. Flack is created by Oliver Lansley and stars Anna Paquin, Lydia Wilson, Sophie Okonedo, Rebecca Benson, Genevieve Angelson, Marc Warren, Arinzé Kene, Rufus Jones and Andrew Leung. The comedy drama revolves around a publicity maven who’s an expert at her craft but a complete self-saboteur when it comes to her personal life.

The album features selections of the original music from the show composed by Bobby Krlic (aka The Haxan Cloak) (Midsommar, Triple 9, Seven Seconds, Shooter, The Stranger). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 22 and will be available to stream/download here. Lakeshore Records has previously released Rupert Gregson-Williams’ score from 2018’s first The Alienist season. The Alienist: Angel of Darkness is based on Caleb Carr’s novel and stars Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans, Dakota Fanning, Douglas Smith, Robert Ray Wisdom, Matthew Shear, Ted Levine, Melanie Field and Rosy McEwen.
‘Dickinson’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Announced
Milan Records has announced the details of the new soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ original series Dickinson. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Drum & Lace (The Gospel According to André, Good Girls, The First Monday in May) and Ian Hultquist (Assassination Nation, Animals, My Blind Brother, Yes, God, Yes). Also included is the vocal track Split the Lark performed by actress Ella Hunt. The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, January 29 and will be available to stream/download here. The label has previously released the composer’s score from the first season. Dickinson is created by Alena Smith and stars Hailee Steinfeld, Toby Huss, Jane Krakowski, Anna Baryshnikov, Hunt and Adrian Enscoe.
