Toby Chu (Bao, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, Unforgettable, Covert Affairs, Henchmen) has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary Found. The film is directed by Amanda Lipitz (Step) and focuses on three American teenage girls (Chloe, Sadie and Lily) – each adopted from China – who discover they are blood-related cousins on 23andMe and are inspired to confront the burning questions they have about their lost history. The composer also co-wrote the original song Mystery of Me (performed by Tony Award winner Phillipa Soo feat. MILCK) with MILCK and Simon Wilcox for the movie.

Soundtrack Album for Apple TV+’s ‘Stillwater’ Released
Joyful Noise Recordings has released a soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ original series Stillwater. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season composed by Kishi Bashi and Toby Chu (Bao, Unforgettable, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, Covert Affairs). Also included is Bashi’s theme song Never Ending Dream, which has already been released as a digital single last month. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. Stillwater is developed by Rob Hoegee based on Jon J Muth’s Caldecott Honor Children’s book series and stars James Sie, Judah Mackey, Eva Binder and Tucker Chandler. The show centers on the friendship between three siblings and their next-door neighbor, a wise panda named Stillwater.

Premiering tonight is the Showtime documentary My Psychedelic Love Story directed by Errol Morris. The film’s original music is composed by Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Dredd, Dynasty, Tales from the Loop, Walking with Dinosaurs 3D) who previously collaborated with Morris on the Netflix series Wormwood and the features The B-Side: Elsa Dorfman’s Portrait Photography and American Dharma. The movie, which examines the notorious high priest of LSD Timothy Leary through the eyes of his famed lover Joanna Harcourt-Smith, premiered at this year’s AFI Fest and will debut exclusively on Showtime.
Premiering on Friday, December 4, is the Disney+ original movie Godmothered directed by Sharon Maguire and starring Isla Fisher, Jillian Bell, Jane Curtin, Jillian Shea Spaeder (who also contributed new songs to the project), Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Willa Skye, Santiago Cabrera, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Artemis Pebdani, Stephnie Weir, June Squibb and Carlease Burke. Rachel Portman (Emma, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat) has composed the film’s original score. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the family comedy The War with Grandpa directed by Tim Hill and starring Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman, Oakes Fegley, Christopher Walken, Rob Riggle, Cheech Marin and Jane Seymour. The film’s original score is composed by Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, Bridge to Terabithia, The Proposal, John Q, Sex and the City: The Movie). No word on a soundtrack release. Christopher H. Knight (Echo Park) has composed the film’s original score and Paragas and Dale Watson have composed the movie’s original songs today. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring both score and songs performed by the drama’s cast. Toby Chu to Score Netflix’s ‘Centaurworld’
Netflix has announced that Toby Chu (Bao, Unforgettable, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, Covert Affairs) is scoring the upcoming animated series Centaurworld. The show is created by Megan Nicole Dong (Pinky Malinky) and revolves around a hardened war horse that is transported away from battle and finds herself in a land that’s inhabited by silly, singing centaurs of all shapes and sizes. Dong is also executive producing the project with Dominic Bisignano (Star vs the Forces of Evil). Each episode will also include original songs in a variety of genres.
Soundtrack for Pixar’s ‘Bao’ Released
Walt Disney Records has released the soundtrack for the new Pixar Animation Studios short Bao. The film’s original music is composed by Toby Chu (Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, Covert Affairs, Unforgettable, Burn Notice, Henchmen). The soundtrack is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. Bao is directed by Domee Shi and follows an empty-nesting Chinese mom who gets another chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings springs to life and must come to terms with the bittersweet revelation that nothing stays cute and small forever. The animated short is being released in theaters nationwide today in front of Pixar’s latest feature Incredibles 2.

Toby Chu has recently scored Pixar Animation Studios’ upcoming short Bao. The film is directed by Domee Shi and follows an empty-nesting Chinese mom who gets another chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings springs to life and must come to terms with the bittersweet revelation that nothing stays cute and small forever. Becky Neiman-Cobb is producing the project and Pixar’s Pete Docter (Inside Out, Up) & John Lasseter (Toy Story, Cars) are executive producing.
