According to a recent article in Variety, composer Steve Jablonsky has already started working on Michael Bay’s upcoming comedy action thriller Pain & Gain. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Ed Harris, Ken Jeong, Tony Shaloub, Anthony Mackie, Rob Corddry and Bar Paly. The movie is based on the true story of body builders in Miami Beach who headed a kidnapping and extortion ring that went terribly wrong. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, The Chronicles of Narnia) have written the screenplay. Bay is producing the film with Ian Bryce (Transformers, Saving Private Ryan) and Donald De Line (The Italian Job, Green Lantern) through his Platinum Dunes production company.

‘Battleship’ Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande has announced the details for the soundtrack album of the upcoming action film Battleship. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers), as well as a track written and performed by Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. The soundtrack will be released on May 8, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out below. Battleship based on Hasbro’s classical naval combat board game is directed by Peter Berg (Hancock, Friday Night Lights) and stars Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, Hamish Linklater and Rihanna. The Universal Pictures production will be released in several international territories this month and is coming out in the US on May 18.
Varese Sarabande to Release Steve Jablonsky’s ‘Battleship’ Soundtrack
Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack release for Universal Pictures’ action tentpole release Battleship. The album includes the original score written by composer Steve Jablonsky (Transformers series). The soundtrack will be released on May 8, 2012. The cover art and track list will be published in a couple of weeks. Check back on this site for an update and audio clips from the score. Three new movies are opening wide this holiday weekend:
Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whitley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Malkovich, Patrick Dempsey, Ken Jeong, Alan Tudyk, Frances McDormand and John Turturro already opened on Wednesday. The film’s music is composed by Steve Jablonsky. A score album has been released digitally and is available to download on iTunes (check out our soundtrack announcement for more information). Also opening wide this weekend is the Tom Hanks-directed comedy drama Larry Crowne starring Hanks and Julia Roberts. The movie is scored by composer James Newton Howard. A soundtrack album featuring twelve songs from the film and one track of Newton Howard’s score has been released earlier this week on Rhino Records. Film Music Reporter has received the details for the score album for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The score is composed by Steve Jablonsky who also scored the previous Transformers movies. The score album was originally scheduled to be released on June 28, 2011, but is currently listed as unavailable on Amazon, while still being listed to come out during the week of the film’s global release in several international online stores. Check back on this page for updates on where to buy the score album. The official song soundtrack featuring such bands as Linkin Park, Paramore and My Chemical Romance has already been released last week. Steve Jablonsky Confirmed to Score ‘Battleship’
Universal Pictures has confirmed to Film Music Reporter that Steve Jablonsky will be scoring next year’s sci-fi action tentpole Battleship. The film is directed by Peter Berg (Hancock, Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom) and stars Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, Hamish Linklater and Rihanna. The movie based on Hasbro’s classical naval combat board game has been described as a massive Naval adventure across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Erich and Jon Hoeber (Red) have written the project’s script and Scott Stuber (Role Models, The Wolfman) and Sarah Aubrey (Bad Santa, Lars and the Real Girl) are among the film’s producers.
‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ Soundtrack Status
UPDATE (May 31, 2011): The release date of the score album has been pushed back to June 28, 2011, while the song album is still scheduled to come out on June 14.
Reprise Records will be releasing two different soundtrack albums for the upcoming sci-fi action sequel Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The track list of the song album recently surfaced and can be checked out after the jump. Artists included on the album are Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Goo Goo Dolls and Mastodon. Also featured on the soundtrack is Linkin Park’s song Iridescent, which will be featured as the end credits song in the film. As reported last month, the band is also collaborating with composer Steve Jablonsky on the movie. The song soundtrack will be released on June 14, 2011 and is now available to pre-order on Amazon. Steve Jablonsky and Linkin Park Collaborating on ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’
Linkin Park announced on their official website (via ComingSoon.net) that they have once again teamed up with composer Steve Jablonsky for the music of the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The band’s new single Iridescent will be featured as the end credits song in the sequel. The track is a fresh take of the song, which originally appeared on Linkin Park’s current album A Thousand Suns. The band previously contributed the songs What I’ve Done and New Divide for the previous Transformers movies, with the latter also being included in Steve Jablonsky’s score for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Linkin Park also published a new video about the film’s music, which you can watch after the jump. In the video, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda and Steve Jablonsky talk about their collaboration and the placement of Iridescent in the film.

Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
The comedy Arthur directed by Jason Winer and starring Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner and Greta Gerwig features music by Theodore Shapiro. A soundtrack with songs from the movie has been released earlier this week by WaterTower Music. No word on a release of Shapiro’s score. Also coming out this week is the family drama Soul Surfer starring AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt. The film’s score is by Marco Beltrami and has been released by Madison Gate Records as reported here. The album can be downloaded on iTunes. A separate soundtrack with songs from the film has been released by Rhino Records this Tuesday.
‘Your Highness’ Soundtrack details
Varese Sarabande Records has announced a soundtrack release for the upcoming fantasy comedy Your Highness. The album features the original score composed by Steve Jablonsky and will be released on April 5, 2011. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. Your Highness is directed by David Gordon Green and stars Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman, Justin Theroux and Zooey Deschanel. The movie centers on an arrogant, lazy prince who must complete a quest to save his father’s kingdom. Universal Pictures will release the movie on April 8.
