Steve Jablonsky is currently scoring the upcoming action drama Lone Survivor. The film is written and directed by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Hancock) and stars Mark Wahlberg, Eric Bana, Ben Foster, Emile Hirsch and Taylor Kitsch. The movie is based on the book Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 by Marcus Luttrell and tells the true story of a group of Navy SEAL members who fought to stay alive after being ambushed in Afghanistan in 2005 by Taliban forces during a covert mission in the Hindu Kush mountain region. Berg and Wahlberg are producing the project with Sarah Aubrey (Bad Santa, Lars and the Real Girl), Randall Emmett (16 Blocks, Broken City), Steven Levinson (Contraband), Norton Herrick (The Devil’s Double) Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend) and Barry Spikings (The Deer Hunter). Jablonsky has previously collaborated with Berg on the director’s last feature Battleship.

Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy Pain & Gain directed by Michael Bay and starring Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Anthony Mackie, Bar Paly, Tony Shalhoub, Rebel Wilson and Ken Jeong. The film’s original score is composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers series, Gangster Squad). Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Also opening wide is the ensemble romantic comedy The Big Wedding written and directed by Justin Zackham and starring Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried and Topher Grace. Nathan Barr (Hostel, True Blood) has composed the film’s original score. The composer has also co-written the original song It’s a Wonderful Life with Lisbeth Scott for the project. No soundtrack album has been announced at this point. The movie centers on a modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco. ‘Pain & Gain’ Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack release for Michael Bay’s action comedy Pain & Gain. The album features the film’s original score composed by Steve Jablonsky who has previously collaborated with the director on numerous projects, including the Transformers trilogy and The Island. Steve Jablonsky to Score Fox’s ‘The List’ Pilot
Steve Jablonsky has signed on to score the pilot for the Fox drama The List. The show is created by Paul Zbyszewski (creator of Day Break, writer on Lost and Hawaii Five-0) and stars Michael Peña as a U.S. Marshal who leads the hunt for the person who stole “the list” – a file with the identities of every member of the Federal Witness Security Program – after people in the program start getting killed. Tamsin Egerton, Hilarie Burton and Gary Cole are also starring. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) is directing the pilot episode and is executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television production with Zbyszewski. Fleischer has previously collaborated with Jablonsky on this year’s feature Gangster Squad starring Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Emma Stone and Josh Brolin.

The details of the score album for the action crime drama Gangster Squad have been revealed. The album features the film’s score composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers trilogy, Battleship). Video Game Soundtrack Roundup (November 2012)
A couple of soundtracks for major video game titles have recently been announced:
Available now from Ubisoft Music is the soundtrack album for Assassin’s Creed III. The album features the game’s music composed by Lorne Balfe (Megamind, The Dilemma) who previously co-scored last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations with Jesper Kyd. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. Assassin’s Creed III has just been released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 earlier this week and a Wii and Microsoft Windows version is coming out in November. The film’s music is composed by Steve Jablonksy (Transformers series, Desperate Housewives). No word yet on a release date, but the album is expected to come out around the film’s release in January of next year. The composer is taking over scoring duties from Carter Burwell who has previously been announced as the composer of the film. No word yet on whether any of Burwell’s music will remain in the picture. The movie is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and stars Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Anthony Mackie, Giovanni Ribisi and Michael Pena. The drama produced by Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes), Kevin McCormick (The Lucky One) and Michael Tadross (Arthur) tells the story of the events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time. Gangster Squad is currently scheduled to be released on September 7, 2012 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
