Composer Stephen Rennicks is reuniting with director Lenny Abrahamson on the upcoming supernatural horror thriller The Little Stranger. The film starring Domhnall Gleeson, Ruth Wilson, Will Poulter and Charlotte Rampling is based on Sarah Waters’ 2009 novel of the same title and takes place in post-WWII Britain, where a doctor revisits a crumbling great house where his mother once worked as a nurse maid and becomes obsessed with marrying one of the owner’s daughters. Lucinda Coxon (The Danish Girl, Wild Target) wrote the screenplay.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Already in theaters since Thursday is the movie adaptation of Ready Player One directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tye Sheridan, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, Mark Rylance and Olivia Cooke. The film’s original music is composed by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the album details). The label has also released a separate soundtrack featuring a selection of songs from the movie (click here for more information).
Also opening nationwide is the thriller Acrimony written and directed by Tyler Perry and starring Taraji P. Henson, Lyriq Bent, Ajiona Alexus and Antonio Madison. Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses, Baywatch, Lost in Space, Supernatural) has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a release of the score. Warner Bros. Stephen Rennicks Scoring ‘Birthmarked’
Stephen Rennicks (Room, Frank, Rebellion) has composed the music for the upcoming indie comedy Birthmarked. The film is directed by Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais (Whitewash) and stars Toni Collette, Matthew Goode, Michael Smiley, Fionnula Flanagan and Suzanne Clément. The movie follows two respected scientists who decide to quit their jobs to raise three very different children and to prove that everyone has the same potential to become anything they choose. Marc Tulin wrote the screenplay based on a story by himself and Hoss-Desmarais.

Opening in most theaters is the ensemble romantic comedy Mother’s Day directed by Garry Marshall and starring Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts and Jason Sudeikis. The film’s original music is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, The Jungle Book, Elf, Iron Man 2) who previously scored Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve and The Princess Diaries movies for the director. Premiering tonight is the Irish mini-series Rebellion directed by Aku Louhimies and starring Charlie Murphy, Ruth Bradley, Sarah Greene, Brian Gleeson, Michelle Fairley, Ian McElhinney, Michael Ford-Fitzgerald, Paul Reid, Barry Ward and Tom Turner. The 5-parter’s original music is composed by Stephen Rennicks (Room, Frank, Viva). Rebellion tells the story of the birth of modern Ireland through the eyes of three young women. ‘Viva’ Soundtrack Details
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the Irish coming-of-age drama Viva. The album features the film’s original music composed by Stephen Rennicks (Room, Frank, Rebellion). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 29, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Viva is directed by Paddy Breathnach and stars Jorge Perugorría, Luis Alberto García, Héctor Medina, Luis Manuel Álvarez, Renata (Maikel Machín Blanco) and Laura Alemán. The movie executive produced by Benicio Del Toro is set in Cuba and centers on a gay hairdresser who tries to reconcile with his estranged father while launching a career as a drag performer.

‘Room’ Soundtrack Announced
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for Lenny Abrahamson’s indie drama Room. The album features the film’s original music composed by Stephen Rennicks who previously collaborated with the director on last year’s Frank. Also included is Brie Larson’s performance of Big Rock Candy Mountain and This Will Destroy You’s The Mighty Rio Grande. Stephen Rennicks Scoring Lenny Abrahamson’s ‘Room’
Stephen Rennicks is reteaming with director Lenny Abrahamson to score the upcoming drama Room. The movie stars Brie Larson, Jacob Tremblay, Joan Allen, William H. Macy, Sean Bridgers, Tom McCamus and Megan Park. The film is based on the bestselling 2010 novel by Emma Donoghue and is told from the viewpoint of a 5-year-old boy who is being held captive with his mother in a small room. Donoghue has also written the screenplay. Ed Guiney (The Guard, Shadow Dancer) is producing the Element Pictures and No Trace Camping production with David Gross (Goon, What If). Rennicks has previously scored Abrahamson’s previous features, including last year’s Frank starring Michael Fassbender, as well as What Richard Did, Garage and Adam & Paul. Room is set to premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be released on October 16, 2015 by A24 Films
‘Frank’ Soundtrack Details
Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the indie comedy Frank. The album features the film’s original music composed by Stephen Rennicks, as well as the songs performed by the film’s cast. The label has previously released the original song I Love You All performed by The Soronprfbs, which is also included on the soundtrack, as a single. Frank – Music and Songs from the Film will be released overseas on September 15, 2014. No domestic release date has been announced yet. Frank is directed by Lenny Abrahamson and stars Michael Fassbender, Domhnall Gleeson, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Scoot McNairy. The movie follows a wannabe musician who joins an avant-garde pop band led by a musical genius who hides himself inside a large fake head. The comedy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was released in limited release last weekend.
