Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Already in theaters since Thursday is the movie adaptation of Ready Player One directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tye Sheridan, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, Mark Rylance and Olivia Cooke. The film’s original music is composed by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the album details). The label has also released a separate soundtrack featuring a selection of songs from the movie (click here for more information).
Also opening nationwide is the thriller Acrimony written and directed by Tyler Perry and starring Taraji P. Henson, Lyriq Bent, Ajiona Alexus and Antonio Madison. Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses, Baywatch, Lost in Space, Supernatural) has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a release of the score. Warner Bros. Stephen Rennicks (Room, Frank, Rebellion) has composed the music for the upcoming indie comedy Birthmarked. The film is directed by Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais (Whitewash) and stars Toni Collette, Matthew Goode, Michael Smiley, Fionnula Flanagan and Suzanne Clément. The movie follows two respected scientists who decide to quit their jobs to raise three very different children and to prove that everyone has the same potential to become anything they choose. Marc Tulin wrote the screenplay based on a story by himself and Hoss-Desmarais.
