Two new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the thriller The Rhythm Section directed by Reed Morano and starring Blake Lively, Jude Law and Sterling K. Brown. The film’s original score is composed by Steve Mazzaro (The Boss Baby, Bullet to the Head, Ice Box) and produced by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Inception). Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator, Whale Rider) provided additional music. No soundtrack album has been released. Check out our previous article to learn more about the Paramount Pictures release.

Also opening wide is the fantasy horror movie Gretel & Hansel directed by Osgood Perkins and stars Sophia Lillis, Sammy Leakey, Charles Babalola, Alice Krige and Jessica De Gouw. Rob (Maniac, Revenge, Horns, Troy: Fall of a City, Planetarium) has composed the film’s original music. Waxwork Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. ‘Gretel & Hansel’ Soundtrack Details

Waxwork Records will release the official soundtrack album for the fantasy horror movie Gretel & Hansel. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Revenge, Horns, Troy: Fall of a City, Planetarium). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 29 and will be available to stream/download here. A vinyl edition is also in the works. Check back on this page for the purchase links. Gretel & Hansel is directed by Osgood Perkins and stars Sophia Lillis, Sammy Leakey, Charles Babalola, Alice Krige and Jessica De Gouw. The movie is based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale and follows a young girl who leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.

Rob (Maniac, Revenge, Horns, Troy: Fall of a City, Planetarium) has composed the original score for the upcoming horror thriller Run Sweetheart Run. The film is written and directed by Shana Feste (Country Strong, Endless Love) and stars Ella Balinska, Pilou Asbæk, Clark Gregg, Aml Ameen, Dayo Okeniyi and Shohreh Aghdashloo. The movie revolves around a woman who has to get home through Los Angeles with her date in pursuit after a blind date that turns violent.

Hippocampus has released a soundtrack album for the Algerian drama Papicha. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Revenge, Horns, Troy: Fall of a City, Planetarium). The soundtrack is now available to stream and download on Amazon Music, where you can also check out audio samples. Papicha is directed by Mounia Meddour and stars Lyna Khoudri, Shirine Boutella, Amira Hilda Douaouda, Zahra Doumandji, Yasin Houicha, Nadia Kaci and Meryem Medjkane. The movie, which has been selected as Algeria’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category for next year’s Academy Awards, follows a rebellious group of young women who attempt to stage a fashion show rejecting the hijab.

The drama based on the novels of the same title by Sabri Louatah is set against a backdrop of politics and social tensions in contemporary France.

Three Days and a Life is directed by Nicolas Boukhrief and stars Pablo Pauly, Sandrine Bonnaire, Charles Berling, Margot Bancilhon, Philippe Torreton and Dimitri Storoge. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Pierre Lemaitre will be released in French theaters this Wednesday, September 18.

Premiering tonight is the National Geographic documentary Apollo: Missions to the Moon directed by Tom Jennings about the United States’ remarkable journey to land on the Moon before 1970. The film’s original music is composed James Everingham for Bleeding Fingers Music and produced by Hans Zimmer & Russell Emanuel. Also premiering tonight is the CNN docu-series The Movies executive produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman & Mark Herzog and featuring interviews with Steven Spielberg, Julia Roberts, Ron Howard, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, among others. Blake Neely (Arrow, The Flash, Riverdale, Into the West, Life As We Know It) & Nathaniel Blume (The Seventies, The Eighties, Deception) have composed the show’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the sci-fi drama Cities of Last Things.
