Madison Gate Records has released the main title theme from the Amazon original series The Last Tycoon. The track is composed by Academy Award winner Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, The Good Dinosaur, Capote, Little Miss Sunshine) who also scored the show and recently received an Emmy Award nomination for the theme, which is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. The Last Tycoon is created by Billy Ray and stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer and Lily Collins. The drama based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s last work follows Hollywood’s Golden Boy, Monroe Stahr as he battles father figure and boss, Pat Brady for the soul of their studio.

Mychael Danna Scoring Mimi Leder’s ‘On the Basis of Sex’
Mychael Danna is currently scoring the upcoming biographical drama On the Basis of Sex. The film is directed by Mimi Leder (Deep Impact, The Peacemaker) and stars Felicity Jones as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, alongside Armie Hammer, Jack Reynor, Stephen Root, Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates, Sam Waterston and Cailee Spaeny. The movie follows Ruth Bader & Marty Ginsburg as they team up to bring the first landmark gender discrimination case before the Supreme Court. Ginsburg’s nephew, Daniel Stiepleman wrote the screenplay. Robert Cort (Mr. Holland’s Opus, Save the Last Dance, Cocktail) is producing the Participant Media production.
Mychael Danna Scoring Gideon Raff’s ‘The Red Sea Diving Resort’
Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote, Little Miss Sunshine) is composing the music for the upcoming drama The Red Sea Diving Resort. The film is written and directed by Gideon Raff (Prisoners of War) and stars Chris Evans, Haley Bennett, Michael K. Williams, Michiel Huisman, Alessandro Nivola, Greg Kinnear and Ben Kingsley. The movie tells the story of an Israeli agent who runs a secret Mossad operation with a ragtag team of spies to smuggle thousands of persecuted Ethiopian Jews to safety under the cover of a fictitious diving resort in 1981.

Opening nationwide this week is Pixar’s animated feature Coco directed by Lee Unkrich & Adrian Molina and featuring the voices of Gael García Bernal, Anthony Gonzalez, Benjamin Bratt and Renée Victor. The film’s original score is composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, Inside Out, The Incredibles). Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez (Frozen), Germaine Franco (Dope) & Molina contributed original songs to the movie. Opening in most theaters is the comic book movie Justice League directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Ezra Miller, Jason Monoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons and Ciarán Hinds. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland). Universal Music will release a soundtrack album for the drama The Man Who Invented Christmas. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, The Good Dinosaur, Capote, Little Miss Sunshine). The Man Who Invented Christmas is directed by Bharat Nalluri and stars Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens, Christopher Plummer as Scrooge and Jonathan Pryce as Dicken’s father. The movie is based on Les Standiford’s book and recounts how Charles Dickens created his iconic A Christmas Carol.

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the mini-series Alias Grace. The album features selections from the 6-parter’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote) and Jeff Danna (The Good Dinosaur, The Boondock Saints, Storks). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 3 and will be available to download on Amazon. Alias Grace is created Sarah Polley and stars Sarah Gadon, Anna Paquin, Zachary Levi, Paul Gross, Edward Holcroft, Kerr Logan, Rebecca Liddiard and David Cronenberg. The series centers on Grace Marks, a poor, young Irish immigrant and domestic servant in Upper Canada who, along with stable hand James McDermott, was convicted of the brutal murders of their employer in 1843.

Premiering on Thursday, November 2, is the new CBS drama S.W.A.T. developed by Aaron Thomas, produced by Shawn Ryan and starring Shemar Moore, Stephanie Sigman, Alex Russell, Jay Harrington, Lina Esco, Kenny Johnson and Peter Onorati. The show’s original music is composed by Robert Duncan (Castle, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Unit, Timeless). Madison Gate Records has released a digital single featuring new version of the theme from the 70s series performed by Duncan. Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature The Breadwinner. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote, Surf’s Up) and Jeff Danna (The Good Dinosaur, Storks). The soundtrack will be released on November 17 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Breadwinner is directed by Nora Twomey (The Secret of Kells) and executive produced by Angelina Jolie. The movie is based on Deborah Ellis’ award-winning novel and tells the story of an 11-year-old Afghan girl, born into an ever-changing world of conflict and oppression, who finds strength in the love of her family and the power of storytelling.

Mychael Danna has signed on to score the upcoming biographical drama The Man Who Invented Christmas. The film is directed by Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) and stars Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens, Christopher Plummer as Scrooge and Jonathan Pryce as Dicken’s father. The movie is based on Les Standiford’s book and recounts how Charles Dickens created his iconic A Christmas Carol. Susan Coyne (Mozart in the Jungle) wrote the screenplay. Robert Mickelson and Ian Sharples are producing the project.
