Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the the family movie Dolphin Tale directed by Charles Martin Smith and starring Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Harry Connick, Jr., Kris Kristofferson and Nathan Gamble. The film’s score is written by Mark Isham. Varese Sarabande will be releasing the soundtrack album including Isham’s music on October 11, 2011. Also opening this weekend is the drama Moneyball directed by Bennett Mikler and starring Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Chris Pratt. The film’s music is composed by Mychael Danna. A soundtrack album featuring Danna’s score, as well as two songs by Kerris Dorsey and This Will Destroy You has been released earlier this week on Madison Gate Records. ‘Moneyball’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the Moneyball soundtrack have been revealed. Madison Gate Records is set to release the album on September 20, 2011 digitally and as an on-demand CD-R on Amazon. The soundtrack includes the original score by composer Mychael Danna, as well as two songs from the movie by Kerris Dorsey and This Will Destroy You. Check out samples from all tracks on the album after the jump. Moneyball marks Danna’s second collaboration with director Bennett Miller. The movie starring Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Chris Pratt recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and will be released in theaters on September 23, 2011.

‘Moneyball’ Soundtrack Announced

Madison Gate Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the upcoming drama Moneyball. The album features the original score from the film by composer Mychael Danna (Capote, Little Miss Sunshine). The soundtrack will be released on September 23, 2011 and will be available digitally and as an on demand CD-R. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:

The sci-fi adventure prequel Rise of the Planet of the Apes directed by Rupert Hyatt and starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, John Lithgow and Brian Cox is already guaranteed to top the weekend box office. The film’s music is composed by Patrick Doyle. A soundtrack album featuring the Doyle’s score will be released on CD later this month on Varese Sarabande. The other wide release of the week is the comedy The Change-Up directed by David Dobkin and starring Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman, Leslie Mann, Alan Arkin and Olivia Wilde. ‘Camelot’ Soundtrack announced

Varese Sarabande Records has announced a soundtrack album for the Starz series Camelot. The album includes the original score from the show’s first season composed by Mychael Danna and Jeff Danna. The soundtrack will be released on May 3, 2011 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. Also check the audio clips below. Camelot starring Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Tamsin Eggerton and Claire Forlani airs every Friday on Starz.

Mychael Danna to score ‘Moneyball’ and ‘Life of Pi’

Film Music Reporter has learned that Mychael Danna has started work on the upcoming drama Moneyball. The film tells the story of Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane’s successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players. The movie stars Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Chris Pratt. Moneyball is based on a book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side) and is directed by Bennett Miller who previously worked with Mychael Danna on 2005’s Oscar nominated biopic Capote.

Jeff Danna co-scoring ‘Camelot’

As reported last year, Mychael Danna has been scoring the upcoming Starz TV show Camelot. We have learned since that his brother Jeff Danna has co-written the score for the period drama starring Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Tamsin Eggerton and Claire Forlani. The Danna brothers have worked together before numerous times on such movies as Green Dragon, Fracture, Lakeview Terrace and most recently on Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. Camelot will premiere on April 1, 2011 on Starz and its first season will air on ten consecutive weeks.

BREAKING NEWS: Mychael Danna to score Camelot

Film Music Reporter has learned that composer Mychael Danna will be scoring the upcoming TV show Camelot. According to Collider, the epic period drama takes a fresh approach to the powerful story of the legendary King Arthur , weaving it with the authenticity of the most classic medieval tale of all time. The show’s cast includes Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Tamsin Eggerton and Claire Forlani. According to our sources, the show’s budget allows for an orchestral score. The fantasy drama is expected to air in the spring of 2011 on Starz. The first season will have 10 episodes, while more seasons are already being planned.

Mychael Danna Going The Distance

Film Music Reporter has learned that Mychael Danna recently finished scoring the upcoming romantic comedy Going The Distance. The movie directed by Nanette Burstein centers on a man and woman in a long-distance relationship who ultimately come to the realization that they would be happier dating someone closer to home. The movie stars Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, Christina Applegate, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis. Nanette Burstein previously collaborated with Mychael’s brother Jeff Danna on the documentary The Kid Stays in the Picture. The New Line Cinema production will be released domestically by Warner Bros on August 2007.

Chloe soundtrack album announced

Silva Screen Records will release Mychael Danna’s score for the erotic thriller drama Chloe on March 22. The music has been describes as a lush, Bernard Herrman-style score. The movie is directed by Atom Egoyan (Exotica, The Sweet Hereafter, Where The Truth Lies, Felicia’s Junrney, Ararat, Adoration) who regularly works with Danna. Chloe stars Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried and Julianne Moore and will be released in late march by Sony Pictures Classics.
