Film Music Reporter has learned that composer Mychael Danna will be scoring the upcoming TV show Camelot. According to Collider, the epic period drama takes a fresh approach to the powerful story of the legendary King Arthur , weaving it with the authenticity of the most classic medieval tale of all time. The show’s cast includes Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Tamsin Eggerton and Claire Forlani. According to our sources, the show’s budget allows for an orchestral score. The fantasy drama is expected to air in the spring of 2011 on Starz. The first season will have 10 episodes, while more seasons are already being planned.

Mychael Danna also recently scored the drama The Whistleblower. The movie directed by Larysa Kondracki stars Rachel Weisz, Monica Bellucci, Benedict Cumberbatch, Vanessa Redgrave and David Strathairn. The film is based on the experiences of Kathryn Bolkovac, a Nebraska cop who served as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia and outed the U.N. for covering up a sex scandal. The movie has been named best Canadian first feature film at the recent Whistler Film Festival. The Whistleblower premiered at this year’s Toronto film festival and has been picked up for domestic distribution by Samuel Goldwyn Films. The distributor is planning an August, 2011 release.
