La-La Land Records and 5 Cats Studios will release a score album for Blue Sky Studios’s animated movie Ferdinand. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Shrek, X-Men: The Last Stand, Bolt, Ice Age: The Meltdown). Ferdinand is directed by Carlos Saldanha and features the voice talent of of John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Anthony Anderson, Daveed Diggs, Gabriel Iglesias, Bobby Cannavale and David Tennant.

John Powell to Score ‘Han Solo’ Movie
Lucasfilm announced today that John Powell will score the untitled Han Solo movie. The film is directed by Ron Howard who took over directing duties from Chris Miller and Phil Lord and stars Alden Ehrenreich in the title role, alongside Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo. Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi) and Jon Kasdan wrote the screenplay. Kathleen Kennedy is producing the project with Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel.
John Powell to Score Blue Sky Studios’ ‘Ferdinand’
John Powell confirmed in a recent interview with Omar Crook on the Living with a Genius podcast that he is reteaming with director Carlos Saldanha on the upcoming animated feature Ferdinand. The movie is based on the the children’s book The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf & Robert Lawson and revolves around a bull who doesn’t want to fight in the bullfighting arena like so many of his brethren but instead just wants to smell the flowers. Bruce Anderson (Horton Hears a Who!) is producing the Blue Sky Studios production with Lori Forte (Ice Age series, Epic).

‘Jason Bourne’ Soundtrack Details
Back Lot Music will release the official soundtrack album for the action thriller Jason Bourne. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, Happy Feet, Shrek, United 93, Kung Fu Panda) who previously scored the first three parts in the series and David Buckley (The Good Wife, The Nice Guys, The Forbidden Kingdom). Also included is a new version of Moby’s Extreme Ways. The soundtrack will be released on July 29, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. John Powell & David Buckley to Score Paul Greengrass’ ‘Jason Bourne’
John Powell and David Buckley have been hired to score the upcoming action thriller Jason Bourne. The film is directed by Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips) who previously helmed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum and stars Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones. The movie takes place seven years after The Bourne Ultimatum and follows the title character as he unexpectedly resurfaces at a time when the world is faced with unprecedented instability. Greengrass and editor Christopher Rouse have written the screenplay based on the characters created by Robert Ludlum. Frank Marshall (Jurassic World, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Sixth Sense) is producing the project with Jeffrey Weiner, Greengrass, Damon, Gregory Goodman (X-Men: First Class) and Ben Smith.

The full details of the soundtrack album for Joe Wright’s fantasy adventure Pan have been announced. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Happy Feet, Shrek, X-Men: The Last Stand). Also included are two tracks performed by Lily Allen. The soundtrack will be released on October 2, 2015 in the U.S. by WaterTower Music and overseas by Sony Classical. The movie based on the classic story by J.M. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete original score for the 2003 action comedy Agent Cody Banks directed by Harald Zwart and starring Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-nominated composer John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Happy Feet, Rio, Shrek). Hip-O Records has previously released a soundtrack album for the movie, which featured the songs from the comedy, as well as two cues from Powell’s score. John Powell & Jónsi Win Annie Award for ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’
Composer John Powell and singer/ songwriter Jónsi were honored with an Annie Award in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the music from DreamWorks Animation’s hit animated film How to Train Your Dragon 2. Producer Bonnie Arnold accepted their award at the ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles. The other contenders in the category were Danny Elfman for Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Nicole Renald for Cheatin’, Bruno Coulais & Kila for Song of the Sea
and Joe Hisaishi for The Tale of Princess Kaguya
. Powell has previously won four Annie Awards for the original How to Train Your Dragon film, as well as the features Kung Fu Panda and Shrek and the short Kung Fu Panda: Secret of the Furious Five.
