Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the HBO documentary Only the Dead See the End of the War. The album features the film’s original music composed by Michael Yezerski (Mental, Drift, The Devil’s Candy, A Little Death). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 15, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Only the Dead See the War is directed by Bill Guttentag in collaboration with Michael Ware and examines the Iraq War and its moral consequences through the story of the rise and fall of jihadi terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the founder of Al Qaeda in Iraq and the progenitor of ISIS. The movie is told through hand-held video footage culled from hundreds of hours that journalist Michael Ware shot while reporting over the course of the war.

Premiering tonight is the Starz original series The Girlfriend Experience created by Amy Seimetz & Lodge Kerrigan, executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and starring Riley Keough, Paul Sparks, Mary Lynn Rajskub, James Gilbert and Kate Lyn Sheil. The film’s original music is composed by writer/director/composer Shane Carruth (Primer, Upstream Color). Also premiering tonight is the Showtime original series Dice created by Scot Armstrong and starring Andrew Dice Clay, Kevin Corrigan, Natasha Leggero, Lorraine Bracco, Adrien Brody and Michael Rapaport. Elegant Too aka Chris Maxwell & Phil Hernandez (Bob’s Burgers) are composing the show’s original music. Steve Marion aka Delicate Steve has written the show’s main titles theme. Lyle Workman to Score HBO’s ‘Crashing’
Lyle Workman is set to compose the music for the upcoming HBO original series Crashing. The show is executive produced by Peter Holmes & Judd Apatow and also stars Holmes as a comedian who, when his wife leaves him, has nowhere to stay but on the couches of New York’s finest comics. Holmes has written the pilot’s script and Apatow is directing the first episode. Dave Rath, Josh Church and Igor Srubshchik serve as producers and Oren Brimer is co-producing the comedy. Workman has previously scored numerous projects directed and produced by Apatow, including The 40-Year Old Virgin, Superbad and most recently the Netflix original series Love, which premiered in February and will return for a second season next year.

Premiering tomorrow, April 4, is the HBO original movie Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures directed by Fenton Bailey & Randy Barbato. The film’s original music is composed by David Benjamin Steinberg. The documentary centers on Robert Mapplethorpe and profiles the controversial artist from early childhood, to his beginnings in NYC and his meteoric rise in the art world, to his untimely death in 1989. Sacha & Evgueni Galperine to Score Barry Levinson’s HBO Movie ‘The Wizard of Lies’
Sacha and Evgueni Galperine are currently scoring the HBO original movie The Wizard of Lies. The film is directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Donnie Brasco, Sleepers) and stars Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer as Bernie and Ruth Madoff. Hank Azaria, Alessandro Nivola, Lily Rabe and Kristen Connolly are co-starring. The movie centers on Madoff’s massive Ponzi scheme, how it was perpetrated on the public and the trail of destruction it left in its wake, both for the victims and Madoff’s family. John Burnham Schwartz (Reservation Road), Sam Baum (Lie to Me) and Sam Levinson have written the script based on the book The Wizard of Lies by Diana Henriques. Levinson is also executive producing the project with De Niro, Jane Rosenthal (Meet the Parents, Analyze This) and Berry Welsh.
James Newton Howard Scoring HBO’s ‘All the Way’
James Newton Howard has recently recorded his score for the upcoming HBO original movie All the Way. The film is directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents, Trumbo, Game Change) and stars Bryan Cranston as President Lyndon B. Johnson, Anthony Mackie as Martin Luther King and Melissa Leo as Lady Bird Johnson. Bradley Whitford, Stephen Root, Marque Richardson, Aisha Hinds, Todd Weeks, Mo McRae, Spencer Garrett and Frank Langella are co-starring. The movie is based on Robert Schenkkan’s Tony Award-winning play of the same title and follows LBJ’s first year in office as he takes the oath in the wake of President Kennedy’s assassination, navigates the escalation of the Vietnam War and balances opposing interests to launch his landmark civil rights bill.

Premiering tomorrow, February 22, is the HBO documentary Becoming Mike Nichols directed and produced by Douglas McGrath and documents the early life of the influential director and producer. The film’s original music is composed by David Lawrence (American Pie, High School Musical, Jericho, Van Wilder: Party Liaison) who previously scored McGrath’s 2000 feature Company Men. Premiering on Thursday, February 25, is the British mini-series Prey created by Chris Lunt and starring Rosie Cavaliero, John Simm, Philip Glenister and MyAnna Buring. Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Counselor) has scored the first three episodes directed by Nick Murphy and Sarah Warne composed the music for the other three episodes directed by Lewis Arnold. ‘Vinyl’ Vol. 1.2 Soundtrack Released
Atlantic Records has released a new EP for the HBO original series Vinyl. The soundtrack features the songs from the second episode of the show by The Del-Tino’s, Aimee Mann, Jerry Lee Lewis, Julian Casablancas and Don Covay. The EP is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The label has previously released a full soundtrack album for the show and over the next couple of weeks will release new EPs every week with the songs from each episode. Vinyl created by Terence Winter, executive produced by Martin Scorsese and starring Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Juno Temple, Ato Essandoh, P. J. Byrne, J. C. MacKenzie, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen and Paul Ben-Victor currently airs every Sunday night on HBO.
‘Girls’ Vol. 3 Soundtrack Details
Interscope Records will release a new soundtrack album for the HBO original series Girls. The album features a selection of songs from the show by artists including Ellie Goulding, Bleachers and Grimes, St. Vincent, BØRNS, Lucy Rose, Casey Veggies, Matrimony, Christine and the Queens & more. Also included are two tracks from the show’s original score composed by Michael Penn (Masters of Sex, Boogie Nights). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 19 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Fueled by Ramen and Atlantic Records have previously released the Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 soundtracks fro the series. Girls created by Lena Dunham and executive produced by Judd Apatow follows a close group of twenty-somethings as they chart their lives in New York City.

Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the show’s first season by artists including Sturgill Simpson (who performs the title song), Ty Taylor, David Johansen, Kaleo, Otis Reeding, Ruth Brown & more. Premiering tomorrow, February 15, is the Hulu mini-series 11.22.63 based on Stephen King’s 2011 novel, adapted by show runner Bridget Carpenter and starring James Franco, Sarah Gadon, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Daniel Webber, Chris Cooper, Cherry Jones, George MacKay, Lucy Fry, Jack Fulton and Leon Rippy. Executive producer J.J.
