Columbia Records will release a soundtrack album for the Fox hit drama Empire. The album features songs from the show by cast members including Jussie Smollett (Jamal Lyon) and Bryshere Gray a.k.a. Yazz (Hakeem Lyon), alongside Terrence Howard (Lucious Lyon) and guest stars Courtney Love, Juicy J, Jennifer Hudson, Estelle, Mary J. Blige and Rita Ora. The soundtrack will be released on March 10, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A digital version featuring seven additional tracks will also be released on the same date and is available for pre-order on iTunes. Empire created by Lee Daniels & Danny Strong follows the head of a music empire whose three sons and ex-wife all battle for his throne.

Premiering tonight in the U.S. on PBS is the British drama Grantchester created by Daisy Coulam and stars James Norton, Robson Green, Morven Christie, Tessa Peake-Jones, Al Weaver and Pheline Roggan. The show’s original music is composed by John Lunn (Downton Abbey, The White Queen). Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score from the show, as well as songs by Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Gloria Dee overseas last month. The album will be released digitally on January 20 stateside. Premiering tonight is the musical comedy Galavant created by Dan Fogelman and starring Joshua Sasse, Mallory Jansen, Karen David, Timothy Omundson, Vinnie Jones and Luke Youngblood. The show features original songs written by Alan Menken (Aladdin, The Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) and Glenn Slater. The series’ underscore is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Revolution, Supernatural). Hollywood Reords has already released three songs from the comedy. Premiering on Tuesday, January 6, is Marvel Studio’s & ABC’s new series Agent Carter created by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and starring Hayley Atwell, Dominic Cooper, Enver Gjokaj and Chad Michael Murray. Christopher Lennertz (Identity Thief, Horrible Bosses, Hop) who previously scored the Marvel One-Shot short film of the same title is composing the show’s original music. Mark Mothersbaugh to Score Fox’s ‘Last Man on Earth’
Mark Mothersbaugh has been hired the upcoming Fox comedy Last Man on Earth. The show is created by Will Forte (Nebraska, Saturday Night Live, MacGruber) who also stars in the series as the last man on earth in the year 2022, who searches the entire United States for any signs of other living humans after an unknown event wipes out the entire population of Earth. The pilot is directed by Chris Miller & Phil Lord who previously collaborated with Mothersbaugh on such features as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie and 21/22 Jump Street. They are also executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television production with Forte and Seth Cohen.
Fil Eisler to Score Fox’s ‘Empire’
Fil Eisler has been tapped to score the upcoming Fox drama Empire. The show is created by Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler & Danny Strong (Recount, Game Change) and stars Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Gabourey Sidibe, Bryshere Gray, Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers, Malik Yoba, Grace Gealey and Kaitlin Dubleday. The series follows the head of a music empire whose three sons and ex-wife all battle for his throne. Daniels & Strong are also executive producing the Imagine Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television production with Brian Grazer (Apollo 13, 24, A Beautiful Mind) and Francie Calfo. Daniels also directed the pilot episode. It was previously reported that Timbaland will be writing and producing the original songs for the show.

Premiering tonight is the new Fox comedy Mulaney produced by Lorne Michaels (30 Rock) and created by John Mulaney who also stars in the series alongside Seaton Smith, Nasim Pedrad, Martin Short, Elliott Gould and Zack Pearlman. The show’s original score is composed by Matter Music (The New Adventures of Old Christine, Better with You, Friend with Benefits). Mulaney follows a 29-year old rising stand-up comic who is trying to take his career to the next level. The comedy will air every Sunday night on Fox. Premiering on Tuesday, October 7, is the new CW superhero drama The Flash based on the DC Comic and starring Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Kavanagh, Danielle Panabaker, Rick Cosnett and Carlos Valdes. The show’s original music is composed by Blake Neely (The Mentalist, Resurrection, The Pacific, Life as We Know It) who is also scoring the network’s Arrow, which is returning for a third season. Premiering on Tuesday, September 30, on ABC is the new comedy Manhattan Love Story created by Jeff Lowell (John Tucker Must Die) and starring Analeigh Tipton, Jake McDorman, Nicolas Wright, Jade Catta-Preta, Chloe Wepper and Kurt Fuller. The show’s original music is composed by Alec Puro (The Fosters, The Art of Getting By, The First Time). Jared Faber (Suborgatory, As Told by Ginger) is composing the show’s original music. Selfie follows a self-obsessed twentysomething who is more concerned with “likes” than being liked. Marty Beller Scoring Fox’s ‘Gracepoint’
Marty Beller is the composer of the new Fox mystery event series Gracepoint. The show created by Chris Chibnall (United, Camelot) is a remake of the critically acclaimed British TV series Broadchurch and stars David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña, Kevin Zegers, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Jessica Lucas, Jack Irvine, Virginia Kull, Sarah-Jane Potts and Josh Hamilton. The crime drama follows the tragic death of a young boy, and the major police investigation and nationwide media frenzy that subsequently overtake a picturesque seaside town, where anyone is a suspect. Chibnall is also executive producing the Shine America, Kudos and Imaginary Friends production with Anya Epstein (In Treatment, Homicide) & Dan Futterman (Capote, In Treatment), Jane Featherstone, John Goldwyn (Dexter) and Carolyn Bernstein (The Bridge).

Premiering tonight on PBS is the documentary The Roosevelts: An Intimate Portrait directed by Ken Burns about the lives of Theodore, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, three members of the most prominent and influential family in American politics. Ludwig Göransson to Score Fox’s ‘Red Band Society’ and Starz’s ‘Survivor’s Remorse’
Ludwig Göransson has been hired to score the upcoming Fox dramedy Red Band Society. The show is created by Margaret Nagle (Boardwalk Empire) based on the Spanish TV series Polseres vermelles and stars Octavia Spencer, Dave Annable, Griffin Gluck, Nolan Sotillo, Charlie Rowe and Brian Bradley. The coming-of-age comedy drama follows the daily lives of a group of teenagers living in a hospital’s pediatric ward who become unlikely friends. Steven Spielberg is producing the ABC Studios and Amblin Television production with Justin Falvey & Darryl Frank (The Americans, Falling Skies, Under the Dome) and Sergio Aguero (No Reservations, Quarantine).
