Eric Serra is currently scoring the upcoming action thriller Anna. The film is directed by Luc Besson and stars Sasha Luss in the title role, alongside Helen Mirren, Luke Evans and Cillian Murphy. No plot details have been revealed yet. Besson is also producing the EuropaCorp production. Serra has previously scored most of Besson’s directorial efforts, including Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element, La Femme Nikita, The Big Blue and Lucy.

Eric Serra to Score Steven Quale’s ‘The Lake’
Eric Serra has been hired to score the upcoming action thriller The Lake. The film is directed by Steven Quale (Final Destination 5, Into the Storm) and stars Sullivan Stapleton, J. K. Simmons, Charlie Bewley, Diarmaid Murtagh, Alain Blazevic, Sylvia Hoeks, Joshua Henry, Dimitri Leonidas, Denis Lyons and Andrej Dojkic. The movie centers on a group of Navy SEALs who attempt to solve a long-forgotten mystery while they uncover an immense treasure hidden in a lake in war-torn Serbia. Luc Besson has written the screenplay with Richard Wenk (The Equalizer, The Mechanic, 16 Blocks) and is also producing the project.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action adventure Hercules directed by Brett Ratner and starring Dwayne Johnson, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan and John Hurt. The film’s original music is composed by Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible, The Orphanage, Devil). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week. A CD release is set for next month. Soundtrack Details for Luc Besson’s ‘Lucy’
The details of the soundtrack album for Luc Besson’s sci-fi action thriller Lucy have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Eric Serra who regularly works with the director and has scored such features as The Professional, The Fifth Element and La Femme Nikita. Also included is the original song Sister Rust performed by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, as well as tracks by The Crystal Method and Raury. The soundtrack will be released overseas in early Europe. A different soundtrack featuring Serra’s score will be released digitally on July 22, 2014 by Back Lot Music and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Lucy starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman follows a woman who accidentally is caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. The thriller will be released nationwide on July 25 by Universal Pictures.

Eric Serra is reuniting with director Luc Besson on the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Lucy. The movie stars Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman, Choi Min-sik, Analeigh Tipton and Amr Waked. The film follows a female drug mule who gains superhuman powers after the drug she is carrying enters her body. Besson has also written the screenplay and is also producing the EuropaCorp, TF1 Film and Canal Plus production with Christophe Lambert (It Boy). Serra has scored most of Besson’s directorial efforts including Leon: The Professional, The Big Blue, La Femme Nikita, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc and The Fifth Element.

Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy The Three Stooges directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly and starring Chris Diamantopolous, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso in the title roles, alongside Sofia Vergara, Jane Lynch, Larry David, Jennifer Hudson, Craig Bierko and Carly Craig. John Debney has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide is the horror thriller The Cabin in the Woods written by Joss Whedon, directed by Drew Goddard and starring Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford. The film’s music is written by David Julyan (Memento, The Prestige). Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, which is set for a release on CD on May 1, 2012. The most talked about movie opening this week is the drama Shame directed by Steve McQueen and starring Michael Fassbender, Carey Mulligan, James Badge Dale, Nicole Beharie and Hannah Ware. The film’s score is composed by Harry Escott. A soundtrack album featuring three tracks from the score, as well as several songs from the film performed by artists including Blondie, Howlin’ Wolf and actress Carey Mulligan will be released on December 6 by Sony Music. ‘The Lady’ Soundtrack Details
SME Strategic Marketing Group will be releasing the official soundtrack album for Luc Besson’s drama The Lady. The album includes the original score by the director’s regular musical collaborator Eric Serra, as well as the song Soldier of Love by Sade. The soundtrack is scheduled to come out digitally on November 28, 2011 in Europe. A physical release is set to be released on December 6 overseas and is available as an import on Amazon. No word yet on a domestic release of the soundtrack, but check back on this site for updates. Eric Serra is scoring the upcoming drama The Lady. The film is directed by Luc Besson who has collaborated with the composer on most of his movies (including Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element and La femme Nikita. The French/British co-production tells the true story of political activist Aung San Suu Kyi and her husband Michael Aris. Michelle Yeoh stars in the title role as Suu Kyi, the reluctant politician who spent almost 15 years under house arrest in Burma until last November. The film focuses on the heartrending choice she had to make about whether to return to England and nurse her husband, played by David Thewlis, who was dying of cancer or to carry on fighting for democracy in Burma.
