Madison Gate Records will release a soundtrack album for the ITV/BritBox drama The Lady. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Ivor Novello Award nominee Chris Roe (The Salt Path, Blue Jean, Bad Apples, Trigger Point, Wolf, After Love, Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, Lancaster). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 18 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Listen to the composer’s fourth track (A Whole New Person) written for former royal dresser Jane Andrews’ transformation scene (in Episode 1), where she changes her accent, hair, and style to fit into palace life, after the jump. The Lady is written by Debbie O’Malley, directed by Lee Haven Jones and stars Mia McKenna-Bruce, Natalie Dormer, Ed Speleers, Philip Glenister, Ophelia Lovibond, Claire Skinner, Laura Aikman, Daniel Ryan, Mark Stanley and Sean Teale. The 4-parter follows the rise and fall of Andrews, who worked for Sarah, Duchess of York, before her 2001 conviction for the murder of her boyfriend Thomas Cressman.

Siddhartha Khosla (Only Murders in the Building, Paradise, This Is Us, The Idea of You, Rabbit Hole, Welcome to Chippendales, Looking for Alaska) has composed the show’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be released on Friday, March 20. Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy The Three Stooges directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly and starring Chris Diamantopolous, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso in the title roles, alongside Sofia Vergara, Jane Lynch, Larry David, Jennifer Hudson, Craig Bierko and Carly Craig. John Debney has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide is the horror thriller The Cabin in the Woods written by Joss Whedon, directed by Drew Goddard and starring Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford. The film’s music is written by David Julyan (Memento, The Prestige). Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, which is set for a release on CD on May 1, 2012. While there are no movies opening wide this weekend, a number of films are receiving a limited release:
The most talked about movie opening this week is the drama Shame directed by Steve McQueen and starring Michael Fassbender, Carey Mulligan, James Badge Dale, Nicole Beharie and Hannah Ware. The film’s score is composed by Harry Escott. A soundtrack album featuring three tracks from the score, as well as several songs from the film performed by artists including Blondie, Howlin’ Wolf and actress Carey Mulligan will be released on December 6 by Sony Music. Receiving an Oscar qualifying run this weekend before opening wider next year is the drama The Lady directed by Luc Besson and starring Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis. The film’s music is written by the director’s regular musical collaborator Eric Serra. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the song Soldier of Love by Sade has been released overseas by Strategic Marketing Group. ‘The Lady’ Soundtrack Details
SME Strategic Marketing Group will be releasing the official soundtrack album for Luc Besson’s drama The Lady. The album includes the original score by the director’s regular musical collaborator Eric Serra, as well as the song Soldier of Love by Sade. The soundtrack is scheduled to come out digitally on November 28, 2011 in Europe. A physical release is set to be released on December 6 overseas and is available as an import on Amazon. No word yet on a domestic release of the soundtrack, but check back on this site for updates. Eric Serra Scoring Luc Besson’s ‘The Lady’
Eric Serra is scoring the upcoming drama The Lady. The film is directed by Luc Besson who has collaborated with the composer on most of his movies (including Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element and La femme Nikita. The French/British co-production tells the true story of political activist Aung San Suu Kyi and her husband Michael Aris. Michelle Yeoh stars in the title role as Suu Kyi, the reluctant politician who spent almost 15 years under house arrest in Burma until last November. The film focuses on the heartrending choice she had to make about whether to return to England and nurse her husband, played by David Thewlis, who was dying of cancer or to carry on fighting for democracy in Burma.
