Last week, Debbie Wiseman (Wilde, Wolf Hall, Adventures of Arsene Lupin, Vampire Killers) has recorded her score for the upcoming British biographical drama To Olivia (aka An Unquiet Life). The film is directed by John Hay (There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble) and stars Keeley Hawes as American actress Patricia Neal, Hugh Bonneville as her husband, the British children’s author Roald Dahl, as well as Sam Heughan as screen icon Paul Newman. The movie is set between New York, England and Los Angeles at the beginning of the 1960s, and focuses on Dahl’s struggles to write some of his most famous works and Neal’s return to acting with Hud, for which she finally won an Oscar. Hay also co-wrote the screenplay with David Logan (Circus) based on a novel by Stephen Michael Shearer.

The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the horror movie IT: Chapter Two directed by Andy Muschietti and starring Bill Skarsgård, Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone and Andy Bean. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (Hidden Figures, Blade Runner 2049, Shazam!, Annabelle Creation). Opening in Los Angeles before expanding to more markets over the next couple of weeks is the indie drama Ms. Purple written and directed by Justin Chon and starring Tiffany Chu and Teddy Lee. Roger Suen who has previously scored Chon’s first feature Gook has composed the film’s original music. Notefornote Entertainment has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Premiering tonight is the PBS docu-series The Vietnam War directed by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and David Cieri have composed the show’s original score. Universal Music have released two soundtrack albums, including an album featuring Reznor’s & Ross’ score, as well as a separate album featuring the songs from the series by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon & Garfunkel & more. Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow is the British mini-series The State written and directed by Peter Kosminsky and starring Sam Otto, Ryan McKen, Shavani Cameron, Ony Uhiara and Nana Agyeman-Bediako. The 4-parter’s original music is composed by Debbie Wiseman (Wolf Hall, Father Brown, Vampire Killers). The show centers on the lives of four British citizens who join ISIS in Syria. ‘Dickensian’ Soundtrack Details
Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC original series Dickensian. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Debbie Wiseman (Wilde, Wolf Hall, Vampire Killers). The soundtrack will be released overseas on February 11, 2016 and is now available for pre-oder as an import on Amazon. Dickensian stars Stephen Rea, Pauline Collins OBE, Caroline Quentin, Peter Firth, Tuppence Middleton, Sophie Rundle, Omid Djalili, Anton Lesser, Ned Dennehy, Adrian Rawlins and Tom Weston-Jones. The 20-part series is set within the fictional realms of Charles Dickens’ critically acclaimed novels and follows characters including Scrooge, Fagin and Miss Havisham as their lives intertwine in 19th century London.

Premiering tonight is the NBC event series A.D. executive produced by Mark Burnett & Roma Downey and starring Juan Pablo di Pace, Vincent Regan, Greta Scacchi, Aniss Elkohen, Richard Coyle, Babou Ceesay, Chipo Chung, Cesare Taurasi and Adam Levy. Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King) and Lorne Balfe (Home, Penguins of Madagascar) have composed the music for the 12-parter. The show’s original music is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf, Hatfield & McCoys). ‘Wolf Hall’ Soundtrack Announced
Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC mini-series Wolf Hall. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed and conducted by Debbie Wiseman (Wilde, Adventures of Arsene Lupin, Vampire Killers). The soundtrack will be released overseas on March 9, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Wolf Hall is based on the Booker Prize-winning novels of Hilary Manteland and stars Mark Rylance, Damian Lewis, Claire Foy, Jonathan Pryce, Mark Gatiss, Stephen Gardiner, Anton Lesser, Mathieu Amalric, Charity Wakefield, Jessica Raine, Bernard Hill, Richard Dillane, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Natasha Little. The series written by Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and produced by Peter Kosminsky (White Oleander) chronicles the rise of Thomas Cromwell in the Tudor court, from his lowly start as a blacksmith’s son to Henry VIII’s closest advisor.

Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC original movie A Poet in New York. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Debbie Wiseman (Wilde, Adventures of Arsene Lupin) and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The soundtrack will be released on April 28, 2014 in the UK. A Poet in New York is directed by Aisling Walsh (Room At The Top) and stars Tom Hollander, Essie Davis, Ewen Bremner and Phoebe Fox. The drama captures the last few days of the life of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas in New York with his wistful yearning for the country of his birth. The film is set to premiere later this year on BBC.
