Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, V for Vendetta, Anna Karenina, Paddington 2) is currently recording his score for the upcoming supernatural adventure comedy Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The film is directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember) and stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Celeste O’Connor, Patton Oswalt, Logan Kim, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd and Annie Potts. The movie follows the Spengler family who returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.

Dario Marianelli to Score Travis Knight’s ‘Wildwood’
Composer Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, V for Vendetta, Darkest Hour, Anna Karenina, Paddington 2) is reuniting with director Travis Knight on LAIKA’s upcoming animated feature Wildwood. The film is based on the bestselling novel written by The Decemberists lead singer and songwriter Colin Meloy and illustrated by artist Carson Ellis and follows the adventures of Prue McKeel as she sets off to the forests outside Portland’s city limits to find her baby brother who has been taken by a murder of crows.
‘A Boy Called Christmas’ Soundtrack Album Details
Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the fantasy drama A Boy Called Christmas. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, V for Vendetta, Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee, Anna Karenina). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 26 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. A Boy Called Christmas is directed by Gil Kenan and stars Henry Lawfull, Toby Jones, Sally Hawkins, Kristen Wiig, Michiel Huisman, Jim Broadbent, Zoe Margaret Colletti, Stephen Merchant, Joel Fry, Rune Temte and Maggie Smith. The movie and tells the story of a determined young boy who meets his destiny in a magical land inhabited by elves on a quest to find his father – and bring home the gift of hope.

Dario Marianelli to Score Talitha Stevenson’s ‘Late In Summer’
Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Kubo and the Two Strings, Anna Karenina, Bumblebee, Darkest Hour, V for Vendetta) is attached to score the upcoming romantic drama Late In Summer. The film marks the directorial debut of novelist Talitha Stevenson and will star Emily Watson and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. The movie is set in rural Cornwall will chart a brief encounter between a lonely farmer’s wife and a Black American GI that leads to first love in middle life and an impossible choice. Stevenson also wrote the screenplay and Debbie Gray (Mrs. Lowry and Son, The More You Ignore Me) is producing the project.
‘Goldsmith at 20th’ Volume III Album Announced
La-La Land Records has announced the third volume in the label’s Goldsmith at 20th series. The album features two classic scores from 20th Century Fox productions composed by Academy Award winner Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Chinatown, Planet of the Apes, Patton, Poltergeist): The Stripper directed by Franklin J. Schaffner and starring Joanne Woodward, Richard Beymer, Claire Trevor & Carol Lynley and 1974’s S*P*Y*S directed by Irvin Kershner and starring Elliott Gould & Donald Sutherland. The latter score is expanded with previously unreleased material. Also included as a bonus track is the premiere release of Goldsmith’s cue Pacer’s Farewell from the 1960 western Flaming Star starring Elvis Presley. The 2-CD set is limited to 2,000 copies and is now available to order in the label’s online store, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples.

The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar). Decca Classics will release the official soundtrack album for the fantasy drama The Secret Garden. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hours, Kubo and the Two Strings, V for Vendetta, Bumblebee, Anna Karenina). Also included is the end credits song The Secret Garden by AURORA. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 4 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. The Secret Garden is directed by Marc Munden and stars Colin Firth, Julie Walters, Dixie Egerick, Edan Hayhurst, Amir Wilson and Isis Davis.
Dario Marianelli’s ‘Pinocchio’ Score to Receive Worldwide Release
Air-Edel Records has announced the worldwide release of the soundtrack album for Matteo Garrone’s film adaptation of Pinocchio. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Kubo and the Two Strings, V for Vendetta, Anna Karenina, Bumblebee, Darkest Hour) who recorded his score with the Roma Tre Orchestra at Digital Records. Also included is the end titles song Passo Passo written by Marianelli and performed by Petra Magoni. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 28, 2020 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released the soundtrack exclusively in Italy last December when the movie opened in Italian theaters. Pinocchio is written and directed by Garrone and stars Roberto Begnini, Federico Ielapi, Rocco Papaleo, Massimo Ceccherini, Marine Vacth and Gigi Proietti.

Opening on VOD today in the U.S. is the new film adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel The Secret Garden directed by Marc Munden and starring Colin Firth, Julie Walters and Dixie Egerickx. The film’s original music is composed by Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hours, V for Vendetta, Anna Karenina). No soundtrack album has been announced yet.
