La-La Land Records has announced the third volume in the label’s Goldsmith at 20th series. The album features two classic scores from 20th Century Fox productions composed by Academy Award winner Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Chinatown, Planet of the Apes, Patton, Poltergeist): The Stripper directed by Franklin J. Schaffner and starring Joanne Woodward, Richard Beymer, Claire Trevor & Carol Lynley and 1974’s S*P*Y*S directed by Irvin Kershner and starring Elliott Gould & Donald Sutherland. The latter score is expanded with previously unreleased material. Also included as a bonus track is the premiere release of Goldsmith’s cue Pacer’s Farewell from the 1960 western Flaming Star starring Elvis Presley. The 2-CD set is limited to 2,000 copies and is now available to order in the label’s online store, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples.

‘Knowing’ & ‘Lionheart’ Deluxe Edition Soundtracks Announced
Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD Club series, including a deluxe edition soundtrack for the 2009 sci-fi thriller Knowing directed by Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, Rose Byrne and Chandler Canterbury. The album features the expanded original score from the movie composed by Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream, A Quiet Place, The Hurt Locker, Logan, The Wolverine, Ford v. Ferrari), including around 50 minutes of previously unreleased music. The 2-CD set is limited to 1,500 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples.
Jerry Goldsmith’s Expanded ‘Papillon’ Soundtrack to Be Released
Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1973 classic drama Papillon directed by Franklin J. Schaffer and starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman. The album features the expanded original score from the movie composed by Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek: The Motion Picture, The Omen, Planet of the Apes, L.A. Confidential, Poltergeist, Basic Instinct) who received his sixth Academy Award nomination for his music for the movie, including previously unreleased music. The release includes all music recorded for the movie, including unused cues and alternates, as well as source cues arranged by Alexander Courage and conducted by Goldsmith.
