The album features selections from the second season’s original music composed by Blake Neely (The Flash, The Mentalist, Everwood, Brothers & Sisters). 2nd Annual Superhero Music Panel at Comic-Con Announced
The line-up of the 2nd Annual Superhero Music Panel has been announced. Six leading Hollywood composers will discuss the process of creating the musical voice behind the superhero, explain the challenges when bringing a comic book character or story to life and writing music to reflect the story line. The panelists will also show film clips of their work. Participating composers include Brian Tyler who scored Marvel’s two features in 2013, Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World and is set to score the biggest movie of his career to date, Avengers: Age of Ultron, John Ottman who most recently composed the music and edited X-Men: Days of Future Past and has previously worked on X2 and the two The Fantastic Four features, as well as Tyler Bates who has Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy coming up and whose previous credits include 300 and Watchmen.
‘The Case Against 8’ Soundtrack Released
Cow on the Wall Records has released a soundtrack album for the documentary The Case Against 8. The album features the film’s original music composed by Blake Neely (Arrow, Resurrection, The Mentalist, Life As We Know It). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded below. The Case Against 8 is directed by Ben Cotner & Ryan White and takes an inside look at the groundbreaking Supreme Court case that overturned Proposition 8, California’s ban on same-sex marriage. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it won the Best Directing Award and was also shown at the SXSW Film Festival where it received the 2014 Audience Award. The movie was released in select theaters earlier this month and will air on June 23 on HBO.

Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action thriller Edge of Tomorrow
directed by Doug Liman and starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong and Franz Drameh. The film’s original music is composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, The Muppets, Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Also opening wide is the romantic drama The Fault in Our Stars directed by Josh Boone and starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, Nat Wolff and Willem Dafoe. Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by artists including Ed Sheeran, Birdy, Grouplove, M83, Kodaline, Jake Bugg and more. Blake Neely to Score The CW’s ‘The Flash’
Blake Neely has been hired to score the pilot of the upcoming CW drama The Flash. The show is based on the DC Comic and stars Grant Gustin as scientist Barry Allen who is given the power of super speed that transforms him into the Fastest Man Alive, known as The Flash. Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Kavanagh, Danielle Panabaker, Rick Cosnett and Carlos Valdes are co-starring. Greg Berlanti is executive producing the Warner Bros. Television production with Andrew Kreisberg and director David Nutter (The X-Files, Smallville). The Flash character was introduced in the CW’s Arrow, which Neely has been scoring for the past two years.

Premiering tonight on Fox is the docu-series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey executive produced by Seth MacFarlane, Ann Druyan, Mitchell Cannold & Brannon Braga and hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, The Avengers) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring selections from the composer’s was released digitally earlier this week. Additional albums are expected to be announced soon. ‘The Case Against 8’ to Feature Music by Blake Neely
Blake Neely has composed the music for the upcoming documentary The Case Against 8. The film is directed by Ben Cotner & Ryan White (Good Ol’ Freda, Pelada) and centers on the Landmark Supreme Court case that overturned Proposition 8, California’s ban on same-sex marriage. The movie was shot over five years and offers insight into our justice system and the often mysterious process of taking a case to the Supreme Court. Sheila Nevins is executive producing the project. The Case Against 8 is set to premiere later this week at the Sundance Film Festival and will air on HBO later this year.
Blake Neely to Score ABC’s ‘Resurrection’
Blake Neely has been tapped to score the upcoming ABC drama Resurrection. The show is created by by Aaron Zelman (Damages, The Killing) and stars Omar Epps, Matt Craven, Devin Kelley, Frances Fisher, Kurtwood Smith, Sam Hazeldine, Samaire Armstrong, Mark Hildreth and Landon Gimenez. The series centers on the people of Arcadia, MO, whose lives are forever changed when their deceased loved ones suddenly start to return. Zelman is also executive producing the ABC Studios production with JoAnn Alfano (30 Rock), Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner (World War Z, 12 Years a Slave) and Jon Liebman (Ringer), Brillstein Entertainment and Plan B. The pilot was directed by Charles McDougall.
Blake Neely to Score Docuseries ‘The Sixties’
Blake Neely has been tapped to score the upcoming documentary series The Sixties. The show explores key moments of the 1960s through archival newsreel footage, personal movies, and interviews with eyewitnesses to history. The 10-part series features expert commentary from historians, including David McCullough, Robert Dallek, and Robert Caro, as well as recollections from journalists, such as Dan Rather, Robert MacNeil. The docudrama is executive produced by Tom Hanks & Gary Goetzman (The Pacific, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Larry Crowne) for Playtone and Mark Herzog for Herzog & Company. Neely whose scoring credits include such TV shows as The Mentalist, Arrow and Everwood and features including Life As We Know It has previously scored Playtone’s HBO series The Pacific, the documentary Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D and the feature dramedy The Great Buck Howard.

Arrow is a modern retelling of the story of the DC Comics character Green Arrow and stars Stephen Amell as the vigilante superhero who fights crime under his secret identity as Oliver Queen, a wealthy playboy and billionaire industrialist-turned-outspoken politician in Star City. Colin Donnell, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Susanna Thompson and Paul Blackthorne are co-starring in the show executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter. The show’s first season will also be released on Blu-ray and DVD on September 17 and the second season is set to premiere on October 5 on The CW.
