‘Super’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the upcoming action comedy Super directed by James Gunn and starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler and Kevin Bacon. The album features the original score by Tyler Bates, as well as songs by such artists as Tsar, Eric Carmen, Lo-def Dollz, Cheap Trick and Moneybrother. Intrada Records has announced a sountrack album for the 1998 comedy spoof movie Wrongfully Accused. The album is limited to 1500 copies and features more than an hour of the original score by Bill Conti. To listen to audio clips from the score and order the CD, visit Intrada’s online store. Wrongfully Accused stars Leslie Nielsen as Ryan Harrison, who is framed for murder and must prove himself innocent by finding a mysterious one-eyed, one-armed, one-legged man after escaping from a bus accident on the way to jail. WaterTower Music has announced a soundtrack album for Catherine Hardwicke’s Red Riding Hood. The album includes the original score by Brian Reitzell and Alex Heffes, as well songs by Billy Ray and The Big Pink. The soundtrack will be released on March 8, 2011. According to Christopher Lennertz’ official website, the composer has begun working on the upcoming dark comedy Horrible Bosses. The movie stars Jason Sudekis, Charlie Day, Jason Bateman, Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Aniston. The comedy centers on three best friends who, frustrated by their jobs, come to the conclusion the only solution is to kill one another’s bosses. The film is directed by Seth Gordon (The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters), who previously worked with composer Alex Wurman on his studio feature directing debut Four Christmases starring Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. Horrible Bosses is produced by Brett Ratner and Jay Stern and is currently scheduled to be released on July 8, 2011. Read the rest of this entry »

Varese Sarabande Records has announced a soundtrack album for the French drama Les Yeux De Sa Mère (His Mother’s Eyes). The film’s music is written by two time Academy Award-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla. The soundtrack will be released on March 22, 2011. While a physical CD will be made available in Europe, the album will only be released digitally in the US. His Mother’s Eyes is directed by Thierry Kilfa and stars Catherine Deneuve. The Playlist has revealed the details for the soundtrack release of the upcoming action thriller Hanna with music by The Chemical Brothers. The soundtrack album features the original score from the film and will be released on March 15, 2011. ‘Rio’ Soundtrack Status

Two soundtrack albums for the upcoming animated film Rio have been announced. Varese Sarabande Records will release John Powell’s original score from the movie on April 19, 2011. We will be posting a new article when the cover and tracklist will be published. Earlier this week, Fox Music and Interscope Records have announced a separate soundtrack album featuring songs from the movie. Artists featured on the soundtrack include Sergio Mendez, will.i.am, Jamie Foxx and Mikael Mutti. The album will be released on April 5, 2011. Read the rest of this entry »

Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Gore Verbinski’s animated movie Rango starring Johnny Depp features music by Hans Zimmer. Visit our previous article announcing the soundtrack album to find out more. The soundtrack is now available to download at Amazon and iTunes and will be released on CD on March 15. Also opening is George Nolfi’s The Adjustment Bureau starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt The film’s score is written by Thomas Newman who also collaborated on a song for the movie with Richard Ashcroft. Badass Digest is reporting that Trent Reznor has been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The film based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith is directed by Timur Bekmambetov, who most recently collaborated with composer Danny Elfman on 2008’s Wanted starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman. Tim Burton is also involved in the project as a producer. The movie stars Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Anthony Mackie. The film’s story portrays the 16th president as an ax-throwing, highly trained vampire assassin. Apart from scoring the film, Reznor is also expected to appear as a vampire in the movie. 20th Century Fox will release Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in 3D on June 22, 2012. Rob Simonsen scoring ‘LOL’

Rob Simonsen has been hired to score the upcoming comedy LOL. The film is written and directed by Lisa Azuelos and is a remake of her French 2008 film LOL (Laughing Out Loud) ® starring Sophie Marceau. The comedy stars Miley Cyrus, Ashley Greene, Thomas Jane and Demi Moore. The movie takes place in a world dominated by social media and centers on a teenage girl who is dumped by her older boyfriend while her divorced mother struggles to move on with her life.
