Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1999 action adventure The Mummy directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah and Arnold Vosloo. The album features the expanded original music from the Universal Pictures production composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Planet of the Apes, Patton, Basic Instinct), including over half an hour of previously unreleased music, plus alternate tracks. The label has also announced an expanded soundtrack for Sommers’ 2001 sequel The Mummy Returns featuring the film’s original music composed by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Marvel’s The Avengers), including around 40 minutes of unreleased score, as well as alternate tracks.

John Swihart to Score ‘Odd Thomas’
John Swihart is scoring the supernatural thriller Odd Thomas. The movie directed by Stephen Sommers is based on the bestselling novel written by Dean Koontz. The film stars Anton Yelchin as a clairvoyant short-order cook who encounters a mysterious man with links to dark and threatening forces. Willem Dafoe, Patton Oswalt, Addison Timlin and Nico Tortorella are co-starring in the Fusion Films and Sommers Company production. Sommers has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with John Baldecchi (The Mexican, Conan the Barbarian) and Howard Kaplan. The director has previously worked with composers Alan Silvestri on his last three features The Mummy Returns, Van Helsing and G.I. Joe. He has also collaborated with Jerry Goldsmith (The Mummy, Deep Rising), Basil Poledouris (The Jungle Book) and Bill Conti (The Adventures of Huck Finn) earlier in his career.
