Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack release for Walt Disney Pictures’ 1993 family adventure Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey directed by Duwayne Dunham and starring Robert Hays, Kim Greist, as well as the voices of Michael J. Fox, Don Ameche and Sally Field. The album features the complete original score from the movie composed and conducted by Academy Award nominee Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Young Sherlock Holmes, The Miracle on 42nd Street, Rescuers Down Under), including more than half an hour of previously unreleased music. Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack release for Paramount Pictures’ 1993 drama Indecent Proposal directed by Adrian Lyne and starring Robert Redford, Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson. The album features the expanded original score from the movie composed and conducted by Academy Award winner John Barry (Dance With Wolves, Out of Africa, Goldfinger), including over 45 minutes of previously unreleased music and alternate cues. New Soundtrack Albums for ‘A Passage to India’ and ‘The Beastmaster’ Announced
Quartet Records has announced three new limited edition soundtrack releases. First up is a new soundtrack album for the 1984 historical drama A Passage to India directed by David Lean and starring Judy David, Victor Banerjee, Peggy Ashcroft, James Fox and Alec Guiness. The album features the film’s complete original score composed and conducted by Maurice Jarre who previously worked with the director on Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago and Ryan’s Daughter. The release includes more than 20 minutes of previously unreleased music, including many cues that were not used in the final cut of the movie. The composer was honored with his third Academy Award for his score in 1985 and the movie received ten more nominations. The music is performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Remastered ‘Chinatown’ Soundtrack Announced
Varese Sarabande Records has announced the latest batch of titles in the Varese CD Club series. Most notably, the label will be relasing a remastered soundtrack edition for Roman Polanski’s classic 1974 thriller Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. The album features the Academy Award-nominated score composed by Jerry Goldsmith. The release is limited to 3000 copies and is available for pre-order on Varese’s website, where you can also check out a number of audio clips. The previous soundtrack CD has been out-of-print for more than a decade. The release coincides with the Blu-Ray debut of the film. Apart from the score nomination, Chinatown has also received 10 other Oscar nods, including in the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor/Actress categories.
‘Ben-Hur’ Complete Soundtrack Collection Released
Film Score Monthly has announced a new 5 CD-set of the soundtrack for the 1959 classic Ben-Hur. The album includes the complete film score composed by Miklos Rosza, as well as outtakes, alternates and every additional take preserved by the studio mastered from the original six-track recordings. Ben Hur directed by William Wyler and starring Charlton Heston, Jack Hawkins, Haya Harareet, Hugh Griffith and Stephen Boyd has won 11 Academy Awards in 1960, including for Best Picture, Heston’s lead performance, Wyler’s direction and Rosza’s original music.
