Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack release for the 1974 thriller Chinatown directed by Roman Polanski and starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway and John Huston. The album features the film’s expanded and remastered original score from the Paramount Pictures production composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Alien, Planet of the Apes, Patton), including previously unreleased music. The release features both a remastered reissue of the original 1974 soundtrack album, as well as the complete score. Goldsmith received an Academy Award nomination for his work on the film. Unused ‘Chinatown’ Score Released
Perseverance Records has announced a release of the unused score for Roman Polanski’s 1974 classic movie Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. The music is composed by Phillip Lambro. The music was ultimately rejected by Paramount Pictures and replaced by a score by Jerry Goldsmith who ended up receiving one of the film’s eleven Academy Award nominations. In addition to the unused score, the album also features the two concert pieces Structures for String Orchestra and Music for Wind, Brass and Percussion. The limited edition soundtrack album is now available to order in the label’s online store, where you can also listen to the main titles of the score.
Remastered ‘Chinatown’ Soundtrack Announced
Varese Sarabande Records has announced the latest batch of titles in the Varese CD Club series. Most notably, the label will be relasing a remastered soundtrack edition for Roman Polanski’s classic 1974 thriller Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. The album features the Academy Award-nominated score composed by Jerry Goldsmith. The release is limited to 3000 copies and is available for pre-order on Varese’s website, where you can also check out a number of audio clips. The previous soundtrack CD has been out-of-print for more than a decade. The release coincides with the Blu-Ray debut of the film. Apart from the score nomination, Chinatown has also received 10 other Oscar nods, including in the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor/Actress categories.
