‘Any Day Now’ Score Album Details

Lakeshore Records will release a score album for the indie drama Any Day Now. The album features the film’s original music composed by Joey Newman (The Middle). The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 11, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. As previously reported, the label is also releasing a separate soundtrack album featuring the film’s songs. Any Day Now directed by Travis Fine and starring Alan Cumming, Garret Dillahunt, Isaac Leyva, Frances Fisher and Chris Mulkey follows a gay couple who takes in a teenager with Down syndrome. Cutting Edge Launches Film Score Website

Cutting Edge Group has launched the new Cutting Edge Film Scores website, which will give media organisations the ability to use and license professional, high-quality film music for secondary usage. According to Variety, the site allows subscribers to upload a piece of music and have it automatically matched to similar music in the database, helping filmmakers to find music, as well as composers with a similar sound to their desired outcome and helping expose lesser known works. Users are currently able to access almost 200 film scores. Among the titles currently available are a number of scores for movies that will be released in 2013, including Antonio Pinto’s score for Snitch starring Dwayne Johnson, John Swihart’s music for Stephen Sommers’ Odd Thomas and David Buckley’s score for Taylor Hackford’s Parker starring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez. Nathan Johnson is currently scoring the upcoming comedy Don Jon’s Addiction. The film marks the directorial feature debut of actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt who has also written the screenplay and stars as a porn-addicted, modern day Don Juan who sets out to become a less selfish person after meeting a recently widowed older woman. Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Brie Larson, Rob Brown and Tony Danza are co-starring. Ram Bergman is producing through his production company and Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, Killer Joe) is producing for Voltage Pictures. Bergman has previously produced Rian Johnson’s Brick, The Brothers Bloom and Looper, all of which were scored by Nathan Johnson. Read the rest of this entry »

The Weinstein Company, Quentin Tarantino and Loma Vista Recordings have announced the details of the soundtrack release for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. The album features new original tracks, including 100 Black Coffins by Rick Ross and produced by and featuring Jamie Foxx, Who Did That To You?  by John Legend, Ancora Qui by Honorary Academy Award-winning composer Ennio Morricone and Elisa, and the duet Freedom performed by Anthony Hamilton and Elayna Boynton. Also included is existing music used in the film, including tracks by Morricone, Jerry Goldsmith, Luis Bacalov and Riz Ortolani. The soundtrack will be released on December 18, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. ‘Ludwig II’ Soundtrack Details

Bavaria Sonor Mediathek will release a soundtrack album for the German/Austrian costume drama Ludwig II. The album features the film’s original score written by Academy Award-nominated composer Bruno Coulais (The ChorusCoraline) who recorded his music with the Munich Radio Orchestra. Also featured are some of the classical pieces featured in the movie. The soundtrack will be released in Germany on December 21, 2012. To listen to audio clips, click here. Ludwig II is directed by Peter Sehr (Love the Hard Way) and Marie Noelle and follows the life of the Bavarian king. The movie’s cast includes Sabin Tambrea, Sebastian Schipper, Hannah Herzsprung, Uwe Ochsenknecht and Edgar Selge who portrays Richard Wagner. Javier Navarrete has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming 3D martial arts fantasy adventure 47 Ronin. The film is directed by Carl Erik Rinsch and stars Keanu Reeves, as well as Japanese actors Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Rinko Kikuchi, and Kou Shibasaki. The movie is written by Chris Morgan (Fast Five) and Hossein Amini (Drive) and follows the 47 Ronin, a band of samurai swordsmen who avenge the death of their master in 18th century Japan. Scott Stuber (Ted, Safe House), Eric McLeod (Mr. & Mrs. Smith) and Pamela Abdy (Garden State) are producing the Universal Pictures release. Read the rest of this entry »

Composer Ilan Eshkeri and singer/songwriter Andy Burrows have recently recorded their score for the British animated short The Snowman and the Snowdog. The short film is a sequel to the 1982 Academy Award-nominated animated special The Snowman based on the children’s book by Raymond Briggs. The sequel is written and directed by Hilary Audus and Joanna Harrison who also worked on the original special. Briggs is involved as a script consultant. The original film was scored by Howard Blake. Ehskeri and Burrows have recorded their score earlier this month with the London Metropolitan Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London. Sony Legacy will release the official soundtrack album for the documentary West of Memphis. The album features music from and inspired by the film, including a cover of Pink Floyd’s Mother performed by Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks, Satellite by Eddie Vedder, as well as songs by artists including Lucinda Williams, Band of Horses, Patti Smith, Citizen Cope, Tonto’s Giant Nuts featuring Johnny Depp. Also included is a suite from the film’s original score composed by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, as well as excerpts from Damien Echols’ letters from death row recited by Henry Rollins and Johnny Depp over the score. West of Memphis: Voices for Justice will be released physically on January 15, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. West of Memphis directed by Amy Berg (Deliver Us from Evil), produced by Peter Jackson & Fran Walsh (The Lord of the Rings), Lorri Davis and Damien Echols centers on the wrongful conviction case of three Arkansas teenagers who were found guilty in 1994 of the ritual murder of three eight-year-old boy. Bathing Suit Music has released a soundtrack album for Edward Burns’ indie comedy drama The Fitzgerald Family Christmas. The album features the film’s original score composed by P.T. Walkley who has previously worked together with Burns on such films as Newlyweds, The Groomsmen, Purple Violets and Nice Guy Johnny. Also included are the songs featured in the movie by artists including Michael Aarons, Christopher Jackson, Frannybird and The Traces. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release of the complete score for the 1982 epic adventure Conan the Barbarian directed by John Milius and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan, James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom and Sandahl Bergman as Valeria. The album includes the complete score composed by Basil Poledouris (RobocopStarship Troopers), as well as the original 1982 soundtrack album and a number of alternates.
