Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the historical drama series Borgia. The album features selections from the music of the show’s second season composed by Eric Neveux (Intimacy, Flight of the Storks). The soundtrack will be released overseas on April 29, 2013. No word yet on a domestic release. Borgia is created by Tom Fontana (Homicide: Life On The Street, Oz) and stars John Doman, Stanley Weber, Mark Ryder, Isolda Dychauk, Diarmuid Noyes, Assumpta Serna and Marta Gastini. The series’ second season will begin in 1494, 8 months after the death of Rodrigo Borgia’s eldest son and will chart the meteoric rise of Prince Cesare Borgia as the family endeavors to keep hold of the papacy. Premiering tomorrow is the new drama Bates Motel executive produced by Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights) and starring Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke, Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell and Mike Vogel. The show is contemporary prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic movie Psycho and follows Norman Bates during his teenage years. Chris Bacon (Source Code, Smash) is the composer of the show. Following a soundtrack release featuring the movie’s songs, a score album for the musical comedy The Sapphires has been announced. The score is composed by Cezary Skubiszewski. Jeff Toyne Scoring ‘Rogue’

Jeff Toyne is scoring DIRECTV’s first original series Rogue. The drama is created by Matthew Parkhill (The Caller) and stars Thandie Newton as a morally and emotionally-conflicted undercover detective who is tormented by the possibility that her own actions contributed to her son’s death. Marton Csokas, Ian Hart, Claudia Ferri, Joshua Sasse, Jonathan Holmes, Sarah Jeffrey, Ian Tracey, Jarod Joseph, Matthew Beard and Martin Donovan are co-starring. Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire) has directed the first episode. Nick Hamm (The Hole, Godsend, Killing Bono) is executive producing the project for Greenroom Entertainment, alongside John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg for eOne and Steven Marrs. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone directed by Don Scardino and starring Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi, Jim Carrey, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini, Jay Mohr and Michael Bully Herbig. The film’s original music is composed by Lyle Workman (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Superbad). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Also opening wide is the thriller The Call directed by Brad Anderson, Abigail Breslin, Michael Eklund, Justina Machado, Morris Chestnut, David Otunga and Michael Imperioli. John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf) has composed the film’s original score. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Debney’s music earlier this week. ‘Wadjda’ Soundtrack Details

Milan France has released a soundtrack album for drama Wadjda. The album features the film’s original music composed by Max Richter (Waltz with Bashir, Perfect Sense). The soundtrack is now available in France. No word yet on a domestic release. Click here to listen to audio clips. Wadjda written and directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour is the first feature film shot entirely in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The movie follows a 10-year old girl who challenges deep-rooted Saudi traditions in a determined quest to buy a bicycle. When everything goes against her plans, she sees one last chance in her school’s Koran recitation competition and the large cash prize for first place. The movie premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival and is now playing in several European territories. Thomas Newman to Score Pixar’s ‘The Good Dinosaur’

Thomas Newman revealed at a recent event at Le Moyne and Syracuse University as part of their Film Talk Series (via The Dolphin) that he will be reteaming with Pixar on next year’s animated feature The Good Dinosaur. The movie is directed by Bob Peterson and is set in a world where the cataclysmic asteroid that changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct. Pixar and Disney Animation’s Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter and John Walker (The Incredibles) are producing the film. Peterson previously co-directed Pixar’s Up, which featured an Academy Award-winning score by Michael Giacchino. Brian Tyler has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming heist thriller Now You See Me. The movie is helmed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, The Transporter) and stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Isla Fisher, Melanie Laurent, Woody Harrelson, Michael Kelly, Dave Franco and Common. The thriller pits an elite FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against “The Four Horsemen,” a super-team of the world’s greatest illusionists. Boaz Yakin & Edward Ricour have written the screenplay and Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci are producing the project.
